Rats Peckham Rye Park

I have noticed a real increase over the past year or so in rats in Peckham Rye Park. Has anyone else noticed this? I have lived here for a long time now and never really noticed them until recently when I see them all over the place - running across the paths, along the lake, through the bushes. Am I just being more observant or are there more now? I know they have always been there but I see them every time I?m there now and I never used to!

They always used to have rat traps around park by water no rats.

Wonder what gone wrong.

I love those rats. THey are there because people insist on feeding bread to the ducks.

I'm with Louise, they are very entertaining to watch. They perhaps became more bold because there are fewer people around?

(There are still traps around the pond.)

It's not just in PR park. We've seen rats in a number of parks recently, including Belair Park yesterday. They're usually near water.

Theres a group that lives down a drain at the back of Dulwich park cafe

They've always been around Peckham rye park.

One of natures great survivors and very hard to get rid of. They learn to recognise poisons put down and breed too fast.

Also true bread meant for the ducks ends up being eaten by the rats!
