steveo
I have a Sony Bravia HD ready telly, cable and a Tivo box. There is a lead going from the HDMI socket on the Tivo to the TV, yet I'm not seeing HDTV, unless it's so crap I can't tell the difference.Que? *Bob*
Are you watching HD channels - ie BBC1 HD rather than BBC1 old-stylee?On our box BBC1 S(tandard) D(ef) = channel 1, BBC1HD = channel 101102 = BBCHD (which is some of BBC2 plus some other BBC stuff)103 - ITVHD104 = C4 HDMost of the rest of the channels are not broadcast in HD yet (and a lot of them probably never will be.Jonathan Dimbleby's chest hair is most alarming in HD. steveo
I am fairly stupid but yes I am watching channels with HD written after their name. Perhaps the mince pies are the problem Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26602-hd-tv-advice/#findComment-590319 Share on other sites
*Bob*
Sounds like you've done all you can.Personally I think you need a telly over a certain size to see all the benefits of HD clearly. *Bob*
Too small to get the full benefit I would say.. depending on how close you sit.It should still look better though! El Pibe
Is it definitely full HD, rather than HD ready, ie 1080p?If not then the benefit is limited. Also some HD channels really aren't much to write home about and some programmes look better than others.BBC HD should look at least pretty crisp and their nature shows should make your eyes bleed a bit with the clarity, if not something is wrong in your setup somewhere along the chain. pablogrande
The resolution on the TiVo box may be set too low, there should be somewhere in the setup menu a way to change this. If tv I'd hd ready set it to 720p if it's full HD then 1080p there also maybe a setting for auto which will pick up your tvs highest resolution. If you leave the tv on and pull out the hdmi when the TiVo box is on, when you plug the hdmi back in most tvs flash up the resolution in the corner momentarily Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26602-hd-tv-advice/#findComment-590491 Share on other sites
