Are you watching HD channels - ie BBC1 HD rather than BBC1 old-stylee?

On our box BBC1 S(tandard) D(ef) = channel 1, BBC1HD = channel 101

102 = BBCHD (which is some of BBC2 plus some other BBC stuff)

103 - ITVHD

104 = C4 HD

Most of the rest of the channels are not broadcast in HD yet (and a lot of them probably never will be.

Jonathan Dimbleby's chest hair is most alarming in HD.

Is it definitely full HD, rather than HD ready, ie 1080p?

If not then the benefit is limited.

Also some HD channels really aren't much to write home about and some programmes look better than others.

BBC HD should look at least pretty crisp and their nature shows should make your eyes bleed a bit with the clarity, if not something is wrong in your setup somewhere along the chain.

The resolution on the TiVo box may be set too low, there should be somewhere in the setup menu a way to change this. If tv I'd hd ready set it to 720p if it's full HD then 1080p there also maybe a setting for auto which will pick up your tvs highest resolution. If you leave the tv on and pull out the hdmi when the TiVo box is on, when you plug the hdmi back in most tvs flash up the resolution in the corner momentarily

    • You might be interested in watching this video on you tube. It's from a wildlife gardener called Joel Ashton who regularly posts about his work in that area. Being interested in that kind of thing I follow him a lot. Anyway, a few days ago he posted about his plants being deliberately poisoned allegedly by his neighbour. He is going through the process of taking legal action and videoing this journey. There is another follow up which he posted a couple of days ago . It might be helpful to you. I think I should point out that the alleged culprit is not identified on the video so not breaking any privacy laws in sharing this.
