Gooders79
Our 14 mo used to love bathtime, he'd happily play and splash about for ages, on Saturday he had a bit of a meltdown as I put him In the bath and this pattern has reoccurred ever night since, he won't sit down he screams, shouts and gets very upset. I'm sure it's just a phase but any advice on how to get through it would be much appreciated! Strawbs
Can you try doing it a little earlier and see if that makes a difference? My son also loves his bath but if he decides he's a bit tired it's a screamathon! amydown
Have you checked if he has a nappy rash/ sore bum? Mine would sometimes go hysterical when put in the bath and we would often find his bum looking a little bit sore. Might not be the reason but worth ruling out I guess. Hope it's just a phase! kittysailing
Had exactly the same thing at same age, went from not beIng able to get him out tO not being able to get him in overnight!he was suddenly terrified and had a major tantrum if we even started to enter the bathroom at night! I found I had to ease him back into the idea by getting in with him and reassuring him - took a week or so and then back to normal. Quite common apparantly - just a developmental stage! Good luck! sandy_rose
We had that, suddenly the bath terrified her, it'll pass. Try giving bath time s miss for a few days then coax him in with some toys he usually doesn't have in the bath, bucket & spade or something from the kitchen perhaps. Or get in with him yourself but don't force him if he doesn't want to. Gooders79
Bum etc all seem fine, tried a shower with similar effect, will try with us tomorrow night and then try some new toys etc as suggested! Thanks all, great to know it's not that unusual! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26646-bathtime-meltdowns/#findComment-591454 Share on other sites
