Really dangerous behaviour PARTICULARLY as at 3:45pm there are people with children crossing that road at those lights - I and my children were already on the crossing as the light was red and we had the right of way. It was lucky that we hadn't gotton so far across.

And many apologies to the innocent bicylist who happened along afterwards when the lights switched to green - my children had a delayed reaction when we reached the other side of the pavement and were shouting at the motorbike driver who was by then way ahead of you - not at you!

Is this a Pelican crossing?

When you say the light was red and you had the right of way, was the "green man" showing for pedestrians?

ETA: I'm not excusing the motorcyclist, but having the right of way does not mean you shouldn't look to see what is coming before stepping out into the road - unless s/he came suddenly round a corner so couldn't be seen?

Yes we did have the green man showing and the reason we weren't mown down is I looked & stopped children after we started across when I saw he wasn't slowing down and even appeared to be speeding up.

That's fair enough.

I'm REALLY not trying to have a go, and clearly the driver was totally out of order, and I'm very glad nothing terrible happened to any of you.

But given that there are this kind of lunatic drivers on the road, maybe best to check that traffic is slowing down before you start crossing, even if theoretically you are in the right ......

Easy for me to say, I know. And it shouldn't be necessary, of course it shouldn't.

But better to be safe than sorry.....

There is a bend in the road by the school if cars are coming towards lordship lane and if a car or motorbike is speeding along it is possible to check and nothing is coming and then if they do not slow down it can take one by surprise. I know a couple people who have had this experience at this particular crossing.

Fair enough. Sounds like they could do with a mirror there or something, particularly as it's near the school.

ETA: Crossed post! A lollipop person would be an even better idea.

ETA: Except of course a mirror would be there all the time, and the lollipop person only at school going in/coming out times I guess ......

Yes but unless there's a camera at the crossing, how's that going to work?

Even if someone got the guy's number, which in the heat of the moment and worrying about your kids is going to be the last thing on your mind, it's one person's word against another's unless there's proof, surely?

    • A couple more PR / tickbox sessions are being offered by the organisers (the expression "reaching out" really makes my skin crawl), again presumably without any council representatives attending. No sign of the results of the consultation yet, or when the meeting is to decide whether to grant the licence... To whom it may concern,   We are reaching out to invite you to our upcoming Residents & Stakeholder Drop In Sessions for Gala 2025. We are hosting two drop-in style sessions to facilitate more in depth conversations, allowing us to run through our plans for 2025 and to discuss how we are going to address your feedback.    We look forward to meeting you in person and discussing our event plans for both Gala and our new community day, On The Rye Festival, in more detail.   Lunchtime Session: Time: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Date: Monday 17th of March Location: Watson's General Telegraph, 108 Forest Hill Rd, London SE22 0RS.   Evening Session: Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Date: Monday 17th of March Location: Watson's General Telegraph, 108 Forest Hill Rd, London SE22 0RS.   As these are drop-in sessions, you can arrive at any time during the below sessions - but it would be greatly appreciated if you could advise on an approximate arrival time. If you would like to attend, please respond with: Your name Your address Your estimated time of arrival   We really appreciate your feedback and taking the time to attend our engagement meetings.   Yours sincerely,   Community Team | GALA Festival [email protected]
    • I must say Dulwich is the worse borough I’ve seen for dog mess. Literally everywhere I step it’s dog poo! There is a lot of children/kids in this area god forbid they fell in it. Fix up dog owners!!
    • I can’t recommend Niko highly enough. Not only did he solve a problem that was puzzling others, but he started with the least disruptive and least expensive option which worked. He is also a delight to have in the house. 07818607583
    • I have been training with the brilliant personal trainer Fox (yes, that is his real name) for over 3 months now. I can't speak highly enough about Fox, Gok and their team. I was desperately unfit and now I am in danger of turning into a gym junkie! If you are considering joining a gym/class or getting a personal trainer then I would 100% recommend Gokay Fitness.
