kir
I love Fireworks but it is not cool to let them off at half past midnight ! Maybe before the watershed, as they use to say, at 9. Steven Taylor
Ill be launching plenty from my garden tonight and tomorrow night, with some friends and partners present since the displays are all cancelled. I wont be setting any off after midnight though, as is the law. Why would you think you can say people shouldn't let them off after 9? JohnL
The responsible person for fireworks can't drink ... so argument for doing it earlier and having a beer later. Steven Taylor
Im always pretty pissed when im setting off the fireworks, makes it more of a laugh and fun, like being drunk for most things does. malumbu
My father didn't drink and was quite a serious person, but loved throwing cracker jacks at my mother. For younger readers these would jump around the garden and were banned no doubt, with some other fireworks, as they were so dangerous. We could buy loose fireworks from the corner shop at a time when 1000s would get injured each year at home displays. As kids we were always lighting bangers (does this still happen?). I thought that as they banned more dangerous fireworks, generally stopped sales of loose fireworks, and raised the age you could purchase them injuries had fallen but can't find the stats on line. Take care all. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/268705-fireworks/#findComment-1465548 Share on other sites
TheCat
Where is the easiest place to buy fireworks around here given the desire to avoid supermarkets at the moment? JohnL
I remember the "Jumping Jacks" as we called them. There was a theory in the 1970s that if you ran away from them they would follow due to the air wave as you ran - so better to stay where you were when someone set one of nearby.
