Which pram?

Hello mums of ED !

I will soon be a mum and I am looking for the best pram (best for London and its busy buses/trains/tube).

Some say Oyster, some say Buguaboo Bee...

Would anybody have any advice to give?

I've got a bugaboo chameleon which I love but if you are going to use public transport a lot then get the bugaboo bee.. I think I'll sell my cam and get the bee for the next one x

Agree to look into slings/soft structured carriers, an absolute godsend on public transport. I have a lovely bugaboo bee for use with my baby due late March but I haven't used it much yet (2.4year old) and I reckon we'll still

aim to sling/toddler walk when using trains and buses.

I'm not sure there is a perfect solution, we had a cameleon which I loved, sturdy, great and easy to push, always looks really comfy and secure. Wasn't always great for public transport where stairs involved but buses were manageable not at peak times. Now we have a bee, I'm glad we didn't have it for the newborn, occasionally a bit unstable on turning, generally a lot less steady, lie flat option not as good, (carrycot on cameleon great for travelling in the early days... Having said all of this I don't know many people unhappy with bee or oyster... I hated my Maclaren techno xt but it was second hand and a new one might be much nicer. Used a sling a lot in the early days and its an essential for when we fly or do longer journeys now...

I'm still using my Bee with my 3 year old, it's been brilliant getting around town. Get some bag hooks and then you're away. I also find the single handle very useful with a toddler as it's easier to steer one handed. And see if you can acquire the cocoon secondhand or from a chum as it's very useful but the baby will only be in it for about 3 months. Best thing is to book a slot in the nursery dept of John Lewis and you can try them out.

I bought a baby jogger city mini after advice frm forumites when ds was 12 wks old. Its great and I couldhave saved myself about ?1k if I had bought it earlier. Great to fold in car, public transport etc.

If you're on a smaller budget then I highly recommend the Babyjogger City Mini - very stable, easy to push and steer, lightweight and easy to fold (great for emergencies when you can't wait for the next bus!) We brought our newborn back from the hospital in ours and never looked back - 20 months later still going strong though also used slings and Mei-Tai for the first 6 months especially as that's easiest of all...

Baby jogger city mini all the way! I bought a bugaboo bee from newborn and have just switched to the baby jogger (my son is 2) and I definitely wish I'd had it from the beginning.

I used a Mei Tei sling a lot and still do (my daughter is 13 months now), but we have also had several prams. Hands down the best pram is the Baby Jogger Versa GT which has only just come out in teh UK. It is fantastic - best of the baby joggers as it has parent facing option as well as the easy fold and its very narrow. You also get a baby carrycot and maxi cosi adapters and if bought new its still much cheaper than Bugaboo Chameleon. We have had a Bugaboo Frog which I loved with the carrycot(but if the BJ Versa had been out I would always go for that over the Bugaboo), a Quinny Senzz for travelling (not great albeit an easy fold), Baby Jogger Summit (Fab for jogging and offroading but massive so not good for the city) and a Maclaren Quest (this is good as a stroller but they are so hard to push!)

agree nice to have the continued option of parent facing.

bugaboos and icandys are lovely but there are other really great options for much cheaper especially the baby jogger (had a push of birnehelene's versa and feel very envious of it!)

if you arent bothered by parent facing then look at the micralite toro too.

if you are going on the bus a lot though, the bee is great, and the baby jogger - one handed fold, cant say better than that!

if you have time, seek out a second hand pram - then if you find it doesnt suit you once the baby is here you can sell it on and get something else without losing too much cash.

I had a Cameleon for my first child and loved it but wasn't ideal on public transport though it is narrower than most prams with carrycots. Now have a Bee + (2nd hand on this forum) which I love. Fantastic on bus and train and in small shops. I use an Ergo sling tpo but find it tricky when I've got things to carry. As mentioned the fact you can steer it 1 handed is fab.
