Is Hope & Greenwood closing down?!

Just browsing through estate agent listings online and notice that Hope & Greenwood's building on North Cross Road is for sale. We adore that place.. can only hope that this is just a change of freeholder and doesn't mean that the retail tenants are moving out.

Anyone care to confirm or deny?

I agree with jimbo - I fear the worst as surely the business owners would have kept up appearances if they were going to stay. We've been upping our doses of their very excellent ice cream, just in case. It will be such a shame if they leave their birth place.

says that there's a sitting tenant and that the Hope and Greenwood business is not affected.

Has the situation changed, then?

It is closing,the people of Dulwich don't eat enough sweets,..think I used it 3times a year,,I'm sure it was someone's past time,surely they new it wouldn't make millions,.

When it opened I gave it six months, so if it really is closing it's done well better than I predicted.

Very sorry though. It was great for small choccy gifts and the people who work there are lovely.

I blow a tenner a week in there easy.

Sports mixture, cream rock, liquorice, comfits, fizzy pasta, milk bottles, hard gums.

Where, near SE22, does sweets by weight ?

I guess they've moved onto bigger things. They don't live locally anymore, so maybe it's not worth their while keeping the shop going. Shame.

Sue - they host the BBC2 show Sweets Made Simple and they make great presenters. Good luck to them. There is a similar shop in Forest Hill - Sugar Mountain, Dartmouth Road near Forest Hill Pools and very reasonable too!

Was told they couldn't come to an agreement/arrangement about the rent so decided to leave. Not sure how that works if the building is being sold.

Nooooo, I love going in there for birthday presents and thank you gifts, a great shop

to have on my doorstep. There's a branch in Covent Garden, but I only go up there every couple of months.

They're doing far better than you predicted. Shops in central London and now Japan. TV series etc.
