And now I'm moaning about you moaning about them moaning about them moaning! Some people just love to complain.

I, for one, am happy that the Co-Op is nice and shiny.

Are there still self service tills? It always seemed a very strange arrangement of tills after the last refit, which I think was when they introduced them.

I'm longing to have a look, but along with many others can't go shopping at the moment 😭

Anybody got any photos?!

When I went Yesterday .. Midday ish the Co-op was virtually empty.

Maybe many people not yet aware it has reopened.

Despite the cold weather there was a Massive queue at M&S.

For any Meat or Fish M&S will still be my choice.

Having said I did try the M&S Wagyu Rump steak at ?9.95

It was awful. Stringy.. Gristly .. Tough .. Really disappointing .

I Seasoned it and cooked for 4 mins on one side 3 on the other side. Basted it with Butter and Garlic

Rested for 8 - 10 mins Should of been perfect.

I actually left it out for the Foxes. They did not Grumble

Foxy

?9.95?!

You should have taken it back and complained. They would have refunded you.

I doubt there is much crossover between M&S customers and Co-op customers.

Once M&S opened, I rarely used the Co-op. Even though I fully support their ethic, apart from a few things, M&S just seemed better value, and was actually cheaper than I had expected.

ETA: However, once I can, I will definitely check the new Co-op out. But they had always seemed to have supply problems, or management problems, or both, particularly in the fruit and veg section.

ETA: I think M&S generally have problems, though less so with the food side.

They have major problems on the clothing side, for various reasons, and now they are closing their bank. Which is very annoying as I have a current account with them (luckily not my main account) and now I've got to move it elsewhere. Though at least it's much easier to do that these days.

Sorry admin, way off topic, stream of consciousness, as you were, back to the Co-op 🙂

Difficult to do so once you have cooked it..

I must admit .. it did not Look much Like Real Wagyu..

It was English Wagyu Japanese Wagyu is 4 times the price.

A Japanese Wagyu Rump Steak would cost ?40 - ?50

Very open to abuse, those type of tills. You could ring up anything and it wasn't weighed so shoplifting probably increased.

Thanks.

So basically, if the new tills are all like the latter left-side tills, they will lose customers/business.

Visited on Sunday afternoon so likely to be fairly busy and it was. I liked the old co-op. Maybe I'd got used to its foibles

- lots of empty space at the front, narrow and cramped aisles from 1/3 of the way back

- didn't seem to have quite a few of the items I wanted (which they used to have) tho it's possible I couldn't find them

- the fast and efficient self-service tills have now gone and been replaced with the frustrating weight-sensitive ones they have in the M&S

I prefer the old co-op. This is probably a good thing as I'll now use it infrequently like I do M&S and rely more on SMBS and AJ Farmer, which can only be a good thing.

Wider ? Parts are but mostly a lot are more narrow..

A thing to consider is that the store is fully stocked with no one re stocking with the Huge cages they use.

It is going to be Very cramped when shelf stackers are on the shop floor

Foxy

I think they are narrower in parts, but the upside is more stock and they doors actually close. It used to annoy me when they'd leave the sliding doors open to let the cold out, especially as the CoOp declares itself as more environmentally friendly than other big firms. Go early, avoid the crowds if you are concerned about trolley-clashing but the place has never been that busy.
