Thanks for that, David - just a shame my direct hit of the stumps from a pretty deep mid-off was not actually during active play.

Otherwise my contribution to the game consisted of, falling over, perspiring, day-dreaming, aching and standing around whilst guys threw a ball at me. Hmmm....

Happy to report my other unique contribution to the game was getting through the whole day without drinking any beer.

Thanks for organising things Leon.

Cracking game boys - that was awesome.

I was a bit worried you'd either have loads of really good players like Dems or no good players at all. In the end though it turned out to be a well matched game. I reckon if you'd taken another wicket towards the end - if Dems had caught that catch off Keef! - you probably would've won.

The stars of the game were in no order Martin (awesome batting and bowling), Giles (an incredible 45 and good keeping), Jamie Keating (brave and stubborn batting to see us through) and Keef (who really should have taken three or four wickets).

I'm writing up the match report now (in between bouts of doing my job...) and it should be on the website today. Expect many references to Keef taking wickets despite being partially sighted!

A match report, wow!- Leon when you mention my breaking the bail with a ferocious direct hit from mid-off, could you sort of make out that I actually run someone out.

And if you have any trouble with spelling and grammar just forward the draft to the forum: we've got several pedants on here who'll soon set you right.;-)

Oh Keef, Keef, Keef I'm a journalist and I'm going to ham it up bigtime - in the same way I would for my paper.

For the purposes of this match report you're going to be more blind than Stevie Wonder in a darkened room with a blindfold on, shortly after he's had molten iron poured into his eye sockets...

    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
