Try roast chicken marinated in peanut butter and Coca-Cola.

My favourite sandwich combination is:

Two slices of fresh crusty white bread thickly buttered

Peanut butter on one

Strawberry jam on the other

Layer of mature cheddar cheese

Layer of salt and vinegar crisps

Layer of crispy bacon still warm

I can see the pearly gates . . .

I agree and sometimes things that you think would never work actually do.

That aside, there are certain delicacies that shouldn't be spoiled. For example, why would you take a freshly caught and cooked lobster and turn it in to Thermidor? All it needs is fresh bread and butter and mayo.

Heaven

Peppered rare fillet steak with jacket potato and oozles of butter

chestnuts and sprouts with bacon bits at christmas

warm flapjack still goey in the middle

smoked salmon

pizza pie

Hell

caviar

fois gras

avacado

banana

celery (devil's food)

dribbling on keyboard, sparks flying, need flapjack....

heaven is homemade

soups

bread

quiche

Apple or any Berry pie

Hell is stuff dished up in front of you, around a table full of people talking loudly, who know each other but not you, and the food is over salted, greasy and cold, which includes turkey twizzlers, badly cooked offal and tapioca pudding.

How did I forget to include Sprouts to my heaven list, though they're probably in most peoples Marmite category.

Sprouts al dente with good olive oil, some roughly chopped parsley and freshly grated Parmeggiano.

Sprouts are so versatile.

Great cold in a sandwich or try a Sprout and Ricotta pasta with a few flecks of chilli.

Annasfield, I wont go into the ethical debate re greenhouse gases ;-) but you are so right about the Lobster. Reminds me too of that great fish restaurant in Kennington, the Lobster Pot

That one is def the most bizarre mix I have heard of, sprout sandwich, and I love sprouts, you sure you are not expecting the pitter patter of tiny feet. Although having said that I liked sucking chalk pieces when I was preg the 2nd time! lol!

    • I cannot speak highly enough about my experience with Yousef and his team for my recent house move in East Dulwich. Downsizing and relocating  my stuff from a house to a flat was made a calm and pleasant experience. The move included large and heavy items of furniture, taking items apart and reassembling in the new place, as well as loads of boxes. Nothing was too much trouble. I can thoroughly recommend this service, you will not be disappointed!

    • The GM's in Dulwich has been gone for around 3 years, so the most recent post must be about the Crystal Palace branch, I presume the same staff moved over? I've been going to Tash at Kuki for a while, never had a problem.
