Hi all,

I hope this is ok admin, I know not strictly a family room matter but I really would like to hear the recommendations of the family room specifically on this if that's ok)

I would like to find an Independent Financial advisor to give various family members advice on tax, pensions, savings etc, can anyone suggest a fairly localish person who is clued up, pleasant (trying to imagine them explaining money stuff to my not-very-with-it mum for instance) and has reasonable rates.

Thanks family roomers!

From a previous recommendation from this board I have used Brendan Murton at The Penny Group. We have met him at his offices near Liverpool station and he has also come to our house. His number his 020 70612348 and I would recommend him.

Hi, We use a Financial Advisor recommended to us by a friend and we are really happy with his service. His isnt local but he has met us by our work (in the city) and had offered to come to ED to meet us also, but after meeting him in the city, we managed to do most of the work over the phone and email.

Heres his details, if you get intouch you can tell him Aileen recommened him.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
