wanted - someone to help fix laptop

Hi,

I have an Acer laptop that i think has a problem with the keyboard, when I press a key instead of one character appearing I am getting several from the neighbouring keys also. I took it to PC world yesterday but they would have to send it off which takes a long time and is very pricey (and no guarantee they can fix).

I just wondered If anyone on the forum can look at it/does repairs or if you know someone that does!

Please PM me if so

Thanks

Multiple characters could indicate a dirty keyboard.

It may be cleared by simply turning your laptop upside down and giving it a good shake.

And by giving it a few gentle thumps to dislodge any foreign matter that may of got into your keyboard.

Also press 'EVERY' key to make sure one is not stuck..

Fox.

Also try blowing out any trapped debris with compressed air. Any previously spilled drink might have caused them to stick, Google make+model+replace keyboard, follow the guide and check the connection (unplug and plug back in).

worst case your south-bridge chip controller is playing up, have a look on Acer's website for a diagnostic tool.

Try plugging in a USB keyboard to test that it is your keyboard causing the errors.

Good luck

    • Yup. At best I have people who detest Trump shrugging and saying something like “what ya gonna do?” Like that is any kind of answer what we gonna do is condemn, and watch out for same happening here - and watch out for all the handmaidens who would allow this to happen.  Apologists for Farage, Jenrick etc
    • There are plenty of Jewish people on these marches, who have every right to stand up and say not in our name. A Jewish bloc attends every single one: https://jfjfp.com/voices/jjp-at-the-gaza-demonstrations/ Jewish peoples lives are being made less safe by this war, as we recently saw in Manchester and in the clear increase in antisemitism. They want to see Peace, and this will only happen with justice for the Palestinians. Most have - within living memory - members of their families who have been murdered by an authoritarian regime. They know what they are seeing and why they are marching. Calling going on march 'indulging in Jew hatred' is just ridiculous. You've clearly never been on one. Engage your critical faculties and think about why these marches are being smeared, rather than spouting what the right wing press and home secretary tell you.
    • Thank you for posting that. Chilling.
    • It amazes me how little outrage there actually is. The US is very clearly, and very quickly falling into autocracy. And as noted above, there are an alarming number in the UK who appear to support the direction the US is taking.
