Laughed publicly and like a donkey when I read capt_birdseye's confession.

Last night I was idly flicking through the digichannels in search of something watchable (is there a crapness/no. of channels ratio?!) when I thought "Now, what's that programme 'Close' that I'm always seeing is on that UKTV History Channel, let's have a look at and see if it's any good..."

:-$

only got about 2-3 hrs sleep last night, got up this morning, made coffee, put piping hot beverage in cupboard and sat down in front of sugar bowl.

Also, have spend the day studying nutrition and nearly posted above sentance as "sugar bowel"

Maybe an early night... ?

today, i think i was completly praying for the earth to open up and swallow me up after after putting my foot in it with a friend of a friend, i asked how his elderly dad was ...... god rest his soul as he passed away not so long ago, ( my wolly friend didnt mention it!!!) but the icing on the cake for me was......it was his boyfriend!!! not dad! shameful! i went as red as a beetroot! so embarassed! just stood there with my mouth open!! der!!!!!

polly, that is nothing, about 2 yrs ago, i was sitting with a work-mate in the office, when a fellow colleague from a different department walked in and after a bit of pleasant chit-chat, my work mate asked the colleague how his wife was, after a moments hesistation back came the reply, we,ve broken up, non deterred she then asked how was their child was only for him to go he,s dead. nothing else was said.

i fortunately was just an innocent bystander but if the world had opened up at that moment i would have gladly jumped in.

nutty I fell of a swiss ball in the gym not that long ago and I mean properly fell off backwards with my legs and bum in the air.

The worse thing was a few people noticed and didn't smile, just looked really serious and superior and carried on exercising in a smug and well coordinated way. I could've coped with being laughed at, but people noticing and pretending not to made it even worse.

:-$

Not today, but thought I'd share this.

A few years back I was out for my birthday, a young single man at the time. A couple of work colleagues came along, and after many drinks myself and a, normally very straight professional type, female colleague started getting really flirty. Nothing much happened, but the next day I text a friend saying "I'll never look at ****** the same way again".

Imagine my horror when I checked my outbox and discovered I'd text said colleague!

That Monday morning was a bit weird :-$

    • The chancellor is exploring new opportunities (  and rightly so) for raising tax revenue in an endeavour to tackle the debt burden facing the nation. One think tank has floated the possibility of taxing  remittances  sent overseas by UK residents using a mix of formal channels  such as banks Western Union, MoneyGram, Wise and WorldRemit.  The proliferation of Western Union agencies has become notable in recent years. It is estimated that  around £28.5 billion was remitted to such countries as India, Pakistan, Nigeria and  countries in the Caribbean. Imposing such a tax could reduce capital outflows and result in greater investment here in the UK. The USA is introducing a tax at the rate of 1% effective 1/1/2026. Canada, Oman and Saudi Arabia are expected to follow suit.
    • I'm trying to be civil, see things from different perspectives and avoid arguments. The grey economy is cash in hand, so no tax to be paid, Chancellor loses out, we all win. Zero hrs contracts must be tough not knowing where or when the next work is coming from.  My position might not be great, but with a bit of sensible weekly shopping, stocking up on best buys etc. one survives and life ain't that bad.
    • I'm trying to find a venue for my daughter's 18th but it's really difficult. Most venues don't want 18th birthday parties. We were looking at Brockwell Hall (The newly refurbed big ol' house in the park) but they want 4.5k for a night which has to finish at 11pm. My daughter tells me her friends don't go out till 11 which I think may be an exageration but I get her point. I'm looking for a bar/club type venue where I can have a DJ till 1/2am and that's about it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
