My nearly 5 year old asks lots of questions about where babies come from and this has been ongoing for months now. Her topic at school is 'Growing' so i think this has prompted more questions; we have just been looking at pictures of umbilical cords as she wanted to know about tummy buttons!

I explain factually and hopefully appropriately too, but where can I can some help about this? can anyone recommend a website or book, to guide me on explaining this to her, without freaking her out?

My oldest is still only 3 and not asking questions yet, so I won't be too helpful (will keep a close eye on other responses), but when I was pregnant with his baby brother I bought a picture book called Hello Baby, which was about a home birth and had in graphic but tasteful illustrations of the baby coming out (although side on, so my son thought it was coming out the back bum), the baby and umbilical chord, and also the placenta.

True though, no? My son knows he came out of 'that big cut in you tummy'. And that 'you sewn togetger, like a jumper'.

I don't think you need to go into a detailed explanation. Mine asked me and I told her exactly where she came from; no more queries or mystery after that. I didn't go into explaining the whole creation process just told her that she came through the whole in the V.

I have a lovely set of Childrens Picture books on the subject:

Happy Birthday! by Robie H. Harris & Michael Emberley Walker books

There's a House Inside My Mummy by Giles Andreae and Vanessa Cabban Orchard Books

Hello Baby by JenninOverebd & Julie Vivas ABC books

All different but all helpful as it's more a chance to talk and have the picture books as a starting point, rather than a lesson.

    • Went to a fireworks display maybe 20 years ago at the Crystal Palace, it wasn't bonfire night, can't remember why it was being held, Capital Radio were there. There were people hanging from a crane, classical music, and quiet fireworks,  It was lovely, still dramatic with the colours but no loud bangs. Not sure why this hasn't become the norm.

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
