Christmas tree recycling

Please recycle your real Christmas tree once you're finished with it. Simply remove all decorations including any pot or stand and do one of the following:

if you have a food and garden waste collection, real Christmas trees can be collected as part of your garden waste subscription collection - simply leave it by your bin on collection day, please note that trees over 6 foot long should be cut in half

if you do not receive a food or garden waste collection, email [email protected] stating your name and full address to request a real Christmas collection - then leave your Christmas tree for collection outside your property at ground floor level in a place that does not cause an obstruction to pedestrians or vehicles, please note that trees over 6 foot long should be cut in half

if you live on an estate or in a block of flats, leave your real Christmas tree by the bin areas or bulky waste collection areas, please make sure your tree is easily accessible and not behind a locked gate or in a bin store

alternatively book a permit and bring you real Christmas trees and plastic Christmas trees to the Reuse and Recycling centre on Devon Street (off old Kent Road)

There is no charge for disposal of Christmas trees by any of the above methods.

Please don't leave splayed out on the pavement, nor prop up with the vain wish it will stay like that: people who are blind/poor sighted, have children/prams, etc. etc. can find it hard to navigate our footpaths at the best of time. Best practice is to strip the branches off and put in the brown bin (ask a neighbour if you have not got one), remove the wooden base.

Our Lidl one is going back in the garden, so have no personal interest in recylcing.

Think that Lewisham are collecting them for example in parks, as yesterday I cycled past Mayow park and there were piles of them just inside the gates. I was a bit worried when I saw a few people carrying them, it wasn't quite like the army on maneuvers but did seem like an extreme bit of camouflage.

Here's one from another time

    • They are so good. Fabulous people too. I love the food - AND they are dog friendly. I don't understand why everyone queues at the place next door when this like goldmine is right THERE!
    • I was just saying this to someone the other day, I have a photo of me at my first job in 1995 with an ashtray and 20 B&H on my desk!
    • Just passed by and it does look nice. I'll try to go in soon. In fact, that whole little stretch of Uplands Rd seems to be having a little renaissance.
    • It's like that most of the time.  Like many, I can only use it at certain times due to work hours and the queue is always out of the door, that said it does tend to move pretty quickly.  Think I was in and out in 25 mins last time which I would call a success! Don't mind Sue, think she woke up on the wrong side of the Post Office queue this morning!
