It doesn't matter what age you are, you can still discover and enjoy music from any period. Age isn't a barrier, it's all part of the joy of discovering the good stuff, just dive in and have a listen. For instance I've got old blues records that go as far back to the 30s.

Sean, I'll be keen to join in with you on a singalong of Cave's The Weeping Song.

Anyway, what a great song this is from a girl of my generation.

Kate Bush - Cloudbursting

Little known nugget of pop trivia:

"Hit Me Baby..." was originally written for TLC but reports vary as to whether they either a) turned it down, or b) the production on their album FanMail was already finished and so it couldn't go on.

One wonders if Ms Spears would have quite the success she was without that track and especially that video.

I love cross thread posts

I've no idea what you're getting at DC, it's all down to the talent ... just like T.A.T.U.

Success had nothing to do with the video of two cute russians dressed as school girls frolicking in the rain...nothing I tell you!!

My word indeed - the last time I checked that video I took a note never to watch it again! But it is still worth a chuckle now. I have the CD single somewhere with some older Belew tunes on there

Funny old song as well - it doesn't work but there are some good ingredients in there - bless it, it was always a cue for much of the crowd to get a drink on the S&V tour where it was played every night (incidentally, a beautifully conceived visual tour but a poor band and by the time it finished it was approx half the length of it's initial dates)

Belew's ponytail at the time must NEVER be forgiven mind you

(PS Jah - I picked up a recent Uncut magazine where the free CD was a compliation of tracks for Faces fans... not Faces songs but other bands with a similar spirit - I made a note to keep it handy for you... must dig it out)

Ah! Sean. A ponytail on any man is unforgiveable indeed. It makes want to get a pair of scissors and snip the unsightly thing off.

PS: I got the mag and the Faces article was pretty good but the CD was seriously lacking. Only one or two things on there that I thought were any good but then of course you can't beat the real thing can you.

Got the Tinariwen album, and it does indeed sound like music of people who spend a long time journeying slowly in a minimalist environment. Good, tho'.

If you like yours kinda mind-melting and jazzy in a late-60s psychedelic way, try this

The studio album NOW by Stark Reality won't leave your mind easily.

My other half hates it. But then again, she doesn't like challenging music.

Worked it out now - first sight mentions: This video has been removed due to terms of use violation. However, picked it up from the other link.

I'm afraid MP you have lost your spot as the most empathetic, intuitive member of the EDF - not my cup of tea at all! But thanks for thinking of me and broadening my experience. As my old, dotty English teacher used to say, you have to taste a lot of oranges to know what a good one tastes like. (I went to a weird school).

    • Big recommendation for Stephen Viccary who has created a magnificent bathroom for us. Quality of work is absolutely top notch. We couldn't be happier - see pics.  Stephen is considerate and tidy meaning working from home during the work was fine (some noise - obviously, it is a demo and installation after all. He does not work on multiple jobs, does a full days work and does ALL the work himself - Tiling, plumbing, lighting (including lighting on a motion sensor under the vanity and in the shower niche - for night time visits 😉), he even changed the door architraves, sorted the badly cracked ceiling and did all the paint work. A full end to end service. Stephen's number - 07941 266 145
    • Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening.  When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next.  Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden.  We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space.  Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together.  I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
