Terroirs is a fantastic restaurant with great food, wine and atmosphere. G&B had an interesting wine selection and the space was nice but the food wasn't great, the atmosphere lacking and the service patchy at best - probably a few of the reasons why it didn't survive. The new place will be a success and offer a proper alternative to the Palmerston and Franklins. Prices will be a little higher but it is generally an affluent area and should be able to support it - just a surprise that it has taken so long for such a place to come along.

Ha - no, not at all although looking back, it does read that way! Just like good restaurants and prefer them to be local - nice to get something new!

Higher prices?! Alternatives are very nice but I would welcome more something that catered for a larger demographic rather than focussing on the more conspicuous 'affluent'. The long established local folk deserve decent value for their buck. Re: chains - generally don't do them, but had something to eat at a Carluccio's this week. A big thumbs up and they have an entire gluten free menu. For a chain, they seem to be getting it right.

    • A quick assessment on having a barter scheme amongst the community. An exchange of goods and services may be really helpful during these difficult times.    I wonder if it’s something that someone would be willing to set up separately and link to the forum? Or perhaps  an additional aspect of the forum itself if it was easy to include? I don’t have IT knowledge to set this up unfortunate, but I do have skills that I could offer. From past experience, it would probably work best as a direct exchange rather than coupon credit.    I may be flaunting the rules by posting on this twice, admin please feel free to delete one if this is the case.

Thank you for stepping up.   whilst I’m here, I was thinking it would be a good idea to have a barter scheme amongst the community. an exchange of goods and services may be really helpful during these difficult times.    wonder if it’s something that someone would be willing to set up separately and link to the forum?
