Fentiman Arms does a decent lunch, if a bit pricey. The deli, Mimi's I think, on the top corner of Brixton Road next to the church, does lovely lunch sandwiches. There's also a new bar, Cable, just down the parade of shops which looks pretty decent although not sure it does food.

Lobster pot is great.

Specially with the background sound of seagulls they play.

( I'm not imaging I heard that once am I ? )

Then there's Roberto's up near Vauxhall (mi6 are prone to leaving breif cases there)& on the road that comes down from the war museum, nearly opposite the law courts on the right, there's an old school Italian place. All black shiny bench seating & a slight mafioso wiff, but bloomin good spaghetti & veal escalope.

the Bonnington cafe at vauxhall is fantastic, its a veggie/vegan co-op with different chefs daily and lovely food even if you are an ardent meat lover. combined with delicious, reasonably priced menus its also a BYO so makes for an inexpensive eve. very relaxing and laidback place too.

    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
    • Truly horrific. Being passive or fighting back is what many of us think about by violent theft.
    • What ridiculous waste of money
    • Lots of good primary schools within reach of there. Fairlawn, Goodrich, Ivydale and Horiman. Secondary schools you will definitely get into the Harris Academies or Sydenham Girls or Forest Hill Boys, you might just be on the boundary for the East Dulwich or North Dulwich Charter but it changes every year.
