How to break bicycle locks!

Hallo all

I've locked up two bikes with U locks...then lost the keys.

How to get them off? (Without wrecking the bikes!)Any ideas?

I am anticipating two types of suggestions; the entertaining ( eg, light dynamite and retreat) and the serious. Both welcomed.

Yes, I know that. But assuming that rgutsell has attempted to pick the lock with no success, logic dictates that they simply cut through the locking brace.

Depends on the quality of the lock. Gold standard locks are designed to not be cutable without mechanised heavy power tools. I agree with Annette...angle grinder. How many disks you go through will be determined by the quality of the steel.

Leave Bike in Street. An "Expert" will come along and open them for you.

Large bolt cutters are the most effective. No lock, however expensive, can defend you against high quality 40 inch+ bolt cutters.

1.Contact a locksmith

2.Pick the Lock use a hair pin or small hacksaw blade and jiggle it vigorously.

3.How to open a U lock by freezing!
