JBoylen
An easy way that you might try is cinnamon on your door way, they will not cross it apparently. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31213-edited/#findComment-634812 Share on other sites

PeckhamRose
If you do not have the expensive but effective ant powder from the likes of the little shop on the corner of Peckham Rye SE22 and Dunstans Road - you know, the lovely lady who has the dog in a basket on a shelf behind the counter - then try any talcum powder. It's fine enough to do serious damage to them. Cover all entrances with a line of it. Saffron
I used Ecover fabric stain remover, in a spray bottle mixed with essential lavendar oil. I sprayed everywhere that I saw ants coming into our house. They didn't like the spray and wouldn't cross it, or if they did it didn't agree with them. The spray wasn't outright poisonous like an insecticide, so I didn't worry about our cats. It wears away on its own after a while. You can also wash it away quite easily. UncleBen
Spread some peanut butter, or jam or something similar on the floor just inside the door - this should deter the little blighters. You may have to do it severl days on the trot though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31213-edited/#findComment-635105 Share on other sites

El Pibe
Have you tried reiki?on a serious note, my dad had an annual battle with them. I've seen everything (nipon gel particularly useless) try and fail to do anything but dent numbers and over the years they definitely got the upper hand to the point that in the annual swarm they actually covered the inside of the entire patio door.If it's a serious problem like that then just get pest control in (my dad was far too tight to ever consider that). If it's outside and the occassional ant wanders in through the open door I'd suggest striving for inner peace and living with it. Jeremy
It's a strange one. I remember putting down Nippon gel one afternoon, and hoovering up a room full of dead ants 24hrs later, problem solved. Maybe there's some sort of collective learning going on? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31213-edited/#findComment-635225 Share on other sites
El Pibe
My observation was that they'd die drinking it so it didn't kill the core of the nest as advertised.Perhaps they were genetically more vulnerable to the toxin or predisposed to gorging themsleves or something.
