Hello

For obvious reasons I’m suddenly curious about solar panels to produce my own electricity.

I live in a conservation area and the south facing roof area faces the conservation area / road, which I think probably means it is not permitted to install panels, unless given permission by Southwark. Has anyone done this?

And, if as an alternative, I installed panels on the west and east facing roofs at the back which don’t need planning permission, will this generate much electricity, or is it not worth the bother/expense?

Thanks

With East or West facing panels you get about 75% of south facing - so it’s still worth it. North facing only about 50% so ROI is harder to achieve. With kWh of electric now 50p and likely to increase even further, panels at the back of your property do make good financial sense.

    • So - after spending weeks lying about everyone else, not to mention yesterday’s disgusting comments about Rob Reiner, Trump is officially suing BBC for 10 billion  the gall of that creature.  And anyone who defends him.  He cares nothing about “truth” Telegraph/guardian/times all reporting 10 billion.   However in bbc  news they are saying 5.  Hmmmmm
    • Piotr and his team just completed our ensuite and we couldn’t be happier. They were a lovely team to have around and took great care with protection and clean-up every day. Communication was great and there were no nasty surprises with the final invoice despite a few challenges with the room along the way. The standard of work is incredible. We still can’t believe this room is in our house!
