  1. Hello For obvious reasons I’m suddenly curious about solar panels to produce my own electricity. I live in a conservation area and the south facing roof area faces the conservation area / road, which I think probably means it is not permitted to install panels, unless given permission by Southwark. Has anyone done this? And, if as an alternative, I installed panels on the west and east facing roofs at the back which don’t need planning permission, will this generate much electricity, or is it not worth the bother/expense? Thanks
  2. Hello all I?m in favour of the ULEZ expansion which is due to be implemented in October 2021. Mainly because one of my kids has asthma so I?m hoping the expected reduction in pollution will help. But I?m curious how it will be enforced in ED, as I haven?t seen new cameras anywhere. It seems like it would be pretty easy to drive around ED and not trigger any cameras. So without the threat of being fined/having to pay the ULEZ fee, what?s the incentive for people to switch to lower polluting cars?
  3. Assuming the proposals for the CPZ are agreed, when is this CPZ actually going to come into effect? Thanks
  4. They have definitely installed two ?not suitable for HGVs? signs since I complained. they?ve been there for roughly a week I think, and since then I personally haven?t seen any more articulated lorries, but I?m obviously not there all the time When did the incidents that you mentioned happen DrunkMonk?
  5. I?ve been in touch with James McAsh and Southwark Council and they told me that they would go to the site and review the diversion and signage yesterday morning (Tues 10th Sept). I?m now waiting for an update from Southwark about what they intend to do. If you did want to contact James McAsh about the problems that would lend more weight to it. His email address is above Cheers
  6. No worries James and thanks for your help I've attached some pics of an articulated lorry (Tescos delivery) getting stuck on Kelmore this morning at 7.45am, then reversing back to Oakhurst and getting stuck on Oakhurst. It then eventually reversed all the way down Oakhurst with a lot of angry drivers behind it. Is there any chance a sign could be put up on Tyrrell / Oakhurst saying "Not suitable for HGVs"?
  7. I emailed councillors James McAsh, Charlie Smith and Victoria Olisa yesterday and none of them have replied so far. The traffic continues...

  9. Aria fixed a leaking radiator for us a while back and his brother Dan did work to fix a vibrating kitchen tap. Pleased with the service. Very quick to respond.
  10. I agree with Roban1 - having just got stuck when a lorry couldn?t make the turn onto Oakhurst. I will contact Thames Water to see if can find a more appropriate diversion for HGVs than those narrow roads
  11. Signposted diversion around Tyrell Road, Oakhurst Grove, The Gardens is really bad, narrow road, sharp corners, lorries getting stuck - avoid!!
  12. Charter North was 892m as at 23/04/2019 - according to a FOI request on Whatdotheyknow.com Charter East Dulwich was 954m according to poster above. It's crazy, if you draw the catchments of Charter ND and Charter ED on a map they massively overlap, you'd think they would have bigger catchments as a result - see attached pic
  13. Try calling this company. They leave their semi-repaired VW vans all over ED It might be one of theirs East Dulwich Campers Unit 1, 4a Tyrrell Road, East Dulwich London. SE22 9NA 0208 299 3565 | 07553 818085
  14. I?m wondering if anyone has experience of having a child with a flat spot on their head. This is related to how he was positioned lying in the womb We have been to see the GP and been referred to a specialist at the Evelina?s children hospital who says it may sort itself out as the child?s skull grows (he?s only 5 months at the mo) Has anyone else had this and can give advice ?
  15. Update on St John?s and St Clement?s : Ofsted visited the school in March 2018 and the school has just tweeted that the result of the inspection was another ?Good? rating
  16. To answer my own question, it?s from the Jarvis Road entrance (the website says)
  17. Where is the distance measured from for Charter ED? Thanks
  18. Applemarmalade, we were in exact same position 2 years ago. Horrible! Call Judy Clark ‭07849 583200‬ she also has a website at Babywinkz.com She had our 18month old sleeping through the night within a week. It was life changing! The process was a real eye opener. Not cheap but totally worth it
  19. Thanks very much to everyone who has posted on this threat or sent me a PM I should say: I haven't had any strong negative comments in relation to any of the schools Lots of positive comments in particular from parents at both SJSC and Goose Green
  20. Hi We're looking at our nearest primaries which are St Johns and St Clements (SJSC), Belham, Goose Green, Bellenden, Harris and Heber If anyone has experience of these I would really like to hear it, positive or negative, via PM or reply Thanks!
  21. I think it's a great idea. The roads between Peckham Road and East Dulwich Road are total rat runs full of non-local cars taking short cuts. Most of these roads are residential streets which often are not wide enough for two cars to pass. The car traffic should not be on those roads, it should be mainly on the major arteries i.e. Grove Lane, Dog Kennel Hill, Rye Lane, Peackham Rye etc For example, if you live on Adys Road it is a constant battle of cars racing to squeeze past each other, racing between speed bumps and junctions with side streets. The diesel fumes outside both St Johns and St Clements Primary and Belham Primary are really bad for the children. Why not encourage bicycles on these residential streets? Bicycles are quiet, they are non-polluting. They don't take up a lot of road space. And, let's not forget that many cyclists are also car drivers (me included) so a journey by bicycle is actually having a positive effect for other road users (yes, even car drivers!) as it substitutes car use.
  22. Yes taper, it boils down to "please don't ruin this lovely beer garden" and what is wrong with saying that?
  23. This is terrible, that is the only really decent pub garden in the area. Apart from the obvious point that the new building will sit on the nice grassy bit where the kids like to run about, if they put a house on that section it will mean the garden will be in the shadow of the new building for the entirety of the afternoon sun, it will completely ruin the garden! Everyone please add your comments on the planning application in the strongest terms!! http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9573689
