  1. So that would be exactly next to the fly-tipping site at Holmes Close, where all the new graffiti has recently appeared... brilliant!
  2. Foxtons are fools. For the same money you can get a 3 bedroom house with garden on a quieter street in the same area. http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/39264005?search_identifier=c6c05e8a079c4d00965e9239fe577e0f#mV3hIAHEQWHqUwEf.97
  3. Also reported graffiti on five front garden walls on Oakhurst Grove. Seems like the 'broken windows' theory is true. If the area looks like crap, people will treat it as such
  4. Shopping trolley today. I'm pestering Southwark Environment Team on a daily basis now. Thanks for responding Renata.
  5. This is what happens if you let someone continually fly tip on your street: more stuff is dumped, with some additional graffiti (see pic) Thanks Southwark Council Environment Team for your "help", grrr!
  6. EDFers can breathe a sigh of relief, SE22 comes in as the 196th most likely postcode to be burgled in the UK The local results, in order of disgrace are: SE21 - 1st SE24 - 13th SE23 - 43rd SE22 - 196th SE26 - 248th SE15 - 410th SE5 - 698th http://www.moneysupermarket.com/hubs/burglary-hotspots/
  7. Dulwich (SE21) in south London is the most likely postcode to be burgled anywhere in the UK, according to Moneysupermarket.com. Herne Hill (SE24) is the thirteenth most likely. As reported in Evening Standard 22nd Jan 2016 and others. Kevin Pratt, consumer affairs expert at MoneySuperMarket, said: ?Our findings suggest thieves favour busy urban areas where strangers are unlikely to be spotted and it?s easy to make a quick getaway. But leafy suburbs are also heavily targeted, with burglars following the money to affluent areas." http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mortgageshome/article-3410062/Britain-s-burglary-hotspots-revealed-South-London-s-suburbs.html
  8. I spoke to the Veolia bin men today. They weren't whether that area of Holmes Close/Oakhurst Grove is on private land but promised me they will check with their depot manager. They even took my phone number, so it could happen... They also mentioned that since Southwark started charging people to collect furniture, they are seeing more old furniture being dumped everywhere along their routes.
  9. I emailed the Southwark Council Environment Officers. They said they'd send a team out to look at it. But if the rubbish is on private land it's not their problem.
  10. Thanks everyone for the replies and PMs. Everyone so far has been very positive about the school, and our chances of getting in.
  11. Hello all, just wondering if anyone has experience of getting their children into St John's and St Clement's via one of the Open Places (i.e. non worshippers)? We live about 300 metres from the school but don't go to church regularly (does occasional Xmas and Easter count?!) Is it a waste of time to even apply?
  12. That letter doesn't really explain what went wrong for that year 6 group with the poor results. Feel sorry for the parents.
  13. Well done James. I just hope as many EDFers as possible will be lucky enough to be in the catchment area.
  14. EDG and the immediate area already has JAGS, JAPS, Alleyns, Charter 1, Bessemer Grange, Goose Green Primary and I have probably missed some out. So there is already tonnes of traffic at school time. BUT... please do not allocate useful school space for a few paltry car parking spaces! As many on this forum know, people are crying out for more decent state secondary provision. The area has decent buses and two train stations, and most kids will be in walking distance
  15. I would far rather have a big school with more pupils, than a small school with a big car park. I thought overall the plans were great. If there were any space to spare (which there isn't), I would prefer more sports facilities for the kids rather than car parks etc.
  16. Anybody know if the new Charter School will any playing fields?
  17. Day 1 after the Men B vaccination. My boy is 16 months old. He is a bit sore in his right leg where the injection was, so has a slight limp, and he woke up once in the night, but otherwise he is fine. Citydoc was OK. Just a normal pharmacy, with a little room on the side for the vaccinations. No frills, but all went smoothly.
  18. Citydoc do the Meningitis B vaccine for ?130 per shot. They have a branch next to New Cross train station.
  19. A man's body was found hidden in bushes in south east London last night as police recovered a gun nearby Evening Standard
  20. I didn't believe this thread until I saw it with my own eyes. There are six or seven bottles sitting on the electric box at the top of Worlingham Rd (jn with Crawthew Grove). It does look a lot like urine, but then there is the strange curdled white substance at the bottom... the mind boggles. I was tempted to open and sniff one, but there were passers by. It was too weird. I felt dirty. There is some work being done in the road a few metres away... workmen with no toilet facilities... coincidence?!
  21. Thanks guys I will give them a try this afternoon!
  22. Anyone know where I can get these locally? Needed urgently... Thanks!
