Callie
Recently I have been finding foreign currency amongst my change. I went to get a pound coin out to find it was a euro, now I've got a Canadian cent which looks like a penny. I think I've been given them in the local corner shops. I didn't notice at the time I got them. Where should I take these coins to get them changed back & will I get a pound or 86p for the euro? Mrs TP
I can't ever remember anywhere that you can change coins. It's just one of those tough luck life experiences :( and an unfortunate reminder to check change, which I have to admit I rarely do - sympathies, bloody annoying. stacey-lyn
UNICEF have a "Change for Good" programme with various airlines such as BA & American Airlines. Stuff any coins in any currency into the envelope provided and the crew collect them. So, you can save them up & offload them on your next trip. woodrot
Hold onto that Euro - you should be able to buy a Villa in Spain for it in the next 12 months. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31468-foreign-currency/#findComment-637386 Share on other sites
Callie
I tried the euro in a sainbury's trolly but it's slightly bigger than a pound coin & didn't fit lol. Perhaps I'll accidentally spend it back to the corner shop from whence it came :O) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/31468-foreign-currency/#findComment-637403 Share on other sites
Alan Medic
I was given a 50p in change recently which I subsequently found out was out of circulation for something like 6 years. uncleglen
There used to be a scam going with trollies and coins. When people handed a ?1 coin to someone returning a trolley they later found that the trolley contained a Euro. When it was happening (Morrison's was my experience)this was a profit of about 40p.
