I have been a member of both. Likeminders where we used to live - only used them once as we then found a local baby sitter. When we moved here we didn't know any baby sitters so joined sitters. I have been impressed with sitters and you can add you favourite baby sitters so have had same sitter more than once. I think they are very similar but sitters is much cheaper

Hi All,

I am in the process of setting up a local childcare business called Dulwich Childcare which focuses on providing local families with local, qualified and experienced babysitters and childcarers. I really struggled to find a reliable babysitter, last minute and after school childcare and having recently given up my job in City, I have decided to set up my own local business offering all these.

I am hoping to 'launch' in the next few weeks so I will definitely keep you all posted with all the details and hopefully look forward to providing you with my childcare services!

Does anyone know where we could get someone to help for 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins in the evening? Our working hours mean that we struggle to take our son to nursery and then get to work on time. The nursery is a 3 min walk away so we just need someone to take him there for us.

Any offers/ suggestions welcome

Pete and Sylwia

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
