I have seen pigeion-like birds, perching about 50' up in the plane trees on Goose Green. They are leaner than pigeons and I can't see whether they have a ring around the neck, which would make them a collared dove. They fly at height to the church steeple sometimes. What could they be? (Not parakeets)
If you pass by and have not been to Greendale Fields recently have a look. The Counci have put in paths and benches but there are still wilder areas for birds and wildlife. I?ve walked through to Sainsbury?s a few times and heard a woodpecker (greater S potted I think though I?ve not seen it yet) and heard a greenfinch. Hoping the whitethrots will be back soon

They are collared doves

Ring isn't that clear.

Spotted him marching down Chadwick Grove yesterday. He flew over the wall into Thomas Carleton Centre.I fear his fate if he wandered past one of the butchers shops in Choumert Road.......

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
