And then when you show any displeasure, following up with "I'm just saying..."

Well don't just f*cking say.

Clearly, based on my reaction, it was either annoying or offensive the first time round. Now they are using this shitty little prefix to justify saying it again.

Grr.

The only exception to this is the late Lee Brilleaux who once memorably described The Clash as a "skiffle group on speed", a description I don't think they'd argue with themselves.

What, do people use this instead of "For all intents and purposes" or do they actually use it as you wrote? This is a new one on me, although now it's been mentioned I'll listen to people a little more attentively from now on.

"In terms of"

"So, in terms of this Friday's meeting, where is it being held?"

What's wrong with "Where is Friday's meeting?"

It's just one of those phrases that people use in the wrong place all the time

Petulism - that's another word I really dislike!

'Wicked', 'awesome' etc when used by 30-year-old bankers at work.

Getting the response 'OK' when I've just complained about a problem. No, not OK! That's the point!

'I'm just going to pop you on hold...'

'Please listen to all 9 options: press 1 to check your account balance...'

Just spotted the typo Ms B, hope you don't mind me correcting it.

(Yes I know it was obvious, but I wasn't about to let that one get by me. And anyway I think it works on different levels)

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
