hotels in amsterdam

In my experience, hotels in Amsterdam are expensive and the rooms are small, so you might want to look a little bit further out to get value for money. I also had friends who stayed in a floating hotel, it was a barge I think. It seemed to be better value than the hotels.

Whatever you do under no circumstances stay in the Heart of Amsterdam hotel - it is cheap for a reason. I was there for a wedding a few years ago and another guest (famed for her last minute and disorganised approach to life) booked her and her Canadian friends into this hotel. She did not realise that they specialise in renting rooms by the hour. Ahem.

They arrived late on the night before the wedding - too late to look for somewhere else. They all woke up covered in flea bites and brought a nice dose of scabies back to Canada with them. I believe her Canadian friends have not been in touch since.

The Posthoorn Guest House is incredible. On the same street as the Anne Frank house. A quiet area surrounded by beautiful architecture, restaurants and cafes that is also a short and enjoyable walk from the city center. Honestly, best place I have ever stayed and the host is so welcoming. http://www.posthoornamsterdam.com/

    • Thanks, yes I need the y piece for the water to go to IN both washing machine AND the dishwasher but the y piece doesn’t fit on the B yellow pipe…  I’m not worried about the waste pipe for now, I’m just concerned about the supply to get water in to both appliances
    • Not sure about the word “input” - do you mean outflow / waste ? Red figure A looks like the sink overflow. If B is the washing machine outflow then that’s where you want your Y fitting. ( assuming all above conjecture is correct). I’d put a cap on that chrome threaded dead connection too. Don’t just rely on the valve. It all looks a bit of a mess TBH 🫣.
    • Yard Sale does have some seating but not as much as FM.
    • Can anyone recommend a local private swimming teacher or class provision for 3 year olds? We lost our place after the closure of Dulwich Leisure Centre and I can’t seem to find any availability and/or venues that take under 4s? Ideally it would be weekends but potentially Friday if I didn’t need to get in with him. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!
