Food poisoning at Dugard & Daughters - twice!

Something smells fishy here. 

Two separate people, multiple purchase, each time saying chicken was off. 

If that's the case Environmental Health would be all over the shop like ants swarming a carcass. 

Can't quite put my finger on what's really going on here 🤔

I think you're imagining too much into this. I've never heard of 'Theweekend' (unless my wife is posting without me knowing!)

I find it disappointing that you automatically assume I'm either stupid (can't cook!) or evil (on a vendetta against a shop). I'm not sure what you think my motive might be, but I've no animosity towards that shop.

It's not very nice when you share an experience on this forum and old timers brigade you, dismiss what you say and blame you for something unpleasant that that happened to you. Imagine if this was you.

Personally, I think their chicken thigh supplier is not good. I used to shop in Smithfield and I know most butchers just buy them in 5kg tubs. Voila.

You might possibly consider that the the degree of scepticism and suspicion your original post encountered was largely due to the accusatory nature of the title in which you specifically identified a long-standing and respected local business. You also sensationalised the matter by using the words "poisoning" and  "twice!" in the heading.

Have you been back to Dugard & Daughters and discussed it with them yet? What was their response and reaction?

There are other butchers to choose from. I've used the same one (not the one you mention) for probably 9-10 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. Always get well looked after.

Both the OP and TheWeekEnd specifically mention  chicken thigh fillets.

TWE purchased £14 worth of chicken thigh fillets and they were thrown away "probably for the third time".
£14 equates to around 12 fillets which is a lot. Could some have been frozen after purchase and then thawed? And thawed properly before cooking?
TWE has a total of 4 posts of which 3 are on this thread.
 

 

Vladi, let me help you because your remarks aimed at discrediting me is a bit rubbish.

1.     If this happened only once, I wouldn’t have bothered Googling it, I wouldn’t have found the original post and I wouldn't have replied. So the fact that 2 people are complaining about poor quality chicken isn’t a coincidence. They are linked by customer experience, and a search engine.  

2.     I never mentioned a fillet.

3.     £14 Buys you exactly 4 chicken thighs/legs in this store. 

4.     Probably" could also have been worded as "for the third time, possibly fourth".

5.     I mentioned that I cooked the pieces within an hour of purchase. Therefore, no freezing, no defrosting. 

6.     Did you know that it's possible to delete old posts when they are no longer relevant, saving your inbox from inane out-of-date replies?

7.     Why should l be a regular poster on here to be credible anyway?
