Fox screaming in middle of night

Did anyone hear a fox scream at 1:15am for a good 10 mins..it sounded horrible - sounded like it was getting attacked!

The screaming is the sound of foxes mating. It sounds like a baby screaming, and is a horrible noise.

I heard it last night in the Friern Road area from around 11pm, it was going on for ages. Then a couple cats started crying out, it was like a feline orchestra... thank god for ear plugs...

foxes scream when mating, calling young and partners, in trouble, out of trouble, much the same as the lesser spotted Dulwich dwelling pisshead leaving local pubs between 12 and 5 in the morning.

I saw one last night shrieking down the road, maybe it was the same one. Was it quite small with a rather mangy looking tail?
