Hence why i'm more likely to live in Denbighshire than ED!

Good luck in your quest finding sufficiently authentic Viet Namese cuisine in Sir Ddynbich for less than the cost of a Gregg's meal deal.

Ha, it's interesting that you think I'm on a quest - sounds fun to be honest.

We ate at Viet Flavours last night - the quality is excellent - home made noodles, generous portions, really fresh, high quality chicken - totally delicious.  We had the tasting menu which was actually very good value for money - lots to eat and we left stuffed. Run by the lovely Anne and her family, we will certainly be back to support this great new option to the high street.

Went to Viet Flavours last night finally. For me it is a bit cramped and noisy. Initially, they tried to sit us on the same table as a group of four, which I was extremely uncomfortable with and surprised given that I had booked. Thankfully a couple left as we arrived and gave us their table. The food was quite good, although, my 'vegetable' curry was actually tofu with just one bit of veg. Staff were friendly, but rushing around. Had to ask for water refills and only got half a glass each time. Good wine selection and the house wine, which is a Chardonnay, is very good. For me, the pricing is a little too much for what feels like a very quick meal in a busy setting.

Does know what is the new shop next to the Palmerston, where Dulwich Café used to be? Looks like they're ready to open (if not open already)

They're open. It's Love Dulwich cafe. Looks good - bistro fare (omelettes, sandwiches, lasagne). Nice decor and alcoholic drinks - so presumably morning, daytime and evening service. Haven't been in yet.

I have been in and liked it a lot. Nice food, well presented, attentive service. 👍

PopBox art for kids is/has opened up there. Plenty of my kids classmates have been going to PopBox for ages and they've got a new local home now too which is fantastic!

Just walked past this place opposite Dulwich Library today - I'd missed it opening up. Looks like a nice little space, they're doing art club stuff for kids in the holidays.

Is it the new branch of planet of the grapes or something else.  If something else we are going to be spoilt for choice.

Planet of the grapes is going to be frogley road so must be something else.  Hopefully another branch of Jerome's Wine Bar in Brockley or that one on Bellenden Road.

The Foxtons hoardings (?) have gone from the space between the Hospice charity shop and what used to be Boss Man (can't remember its new improved  name).

Does anybody know what if anything is taking over the space?

    • Hi Merry Christmas no joy with that Paul Hackett email thanks
    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
