Wow, what an amazing bunch of posts. :)

Did any Forumites share a birth with the new prince, or know anyone who did? My friend K just missed it by a few days. So many lovely (and difficult) memories of the first few days. If I had anything to do differently, I'd definitely splash out for a postnatal doula. Unfortunately we had spent all our money on getting married (on my due date) the day before Little Saff was born!!

My partner's niece was born on Monday in the US so shares a birthday with the prince. Apparently my partner's family has a connection with the royal family of Babungo in Cameroon. So she is also a little princess.

My best mummy mate had an 8lb 6oz baby boy the night before Kate (thought she did well to get the sex & weight right!)

And then had a friend let me know that an old mutual friend of ours had a baby girl a few hours after Kate :-)

What I would do differently is "give in" sooner. I was asked soon after I arrived at Kings what I wanted to do about pain relief and naively said "gas and air and the pool". Both were lovely but 20+ hours later - 1st time mum, back to back baby :-( - I remembered (!) that there were other options and declared "I need some help!". I just wish I had said this earlier and perhaps spared myself some of the post-birth issues I had.

Oh well, lesson learned ;-)

I have also remembered another memorable moment - after my daughter was born the obstetrician who delivered her by forceps said "Well, I won't need to go to the gym tomorrow..." Lovely.

FYI - she has been forgiven however as she did a neat job of "fixing" me!

memorable moment that i only learned about later - me having a short, intense, primal screaming sort of home birth, oblivious to the crowd of neighbours that had gathered outside, who cheered when husband (after having delivered the baby as midwife late...) opened the door and announced it was a girl!
