I'm a lot more excited about this season than I have been for a few years, what with the arrival of Torres at Liverpool!

However, I suspect after a couple of matches I'll be writing off another title charge! We just seem to be incapable of consistency!

Always feel quite confident about getting somewhere in the cups though, I do think we're one of the better cup sides."

Well Torres didn't disappoint (for a couple of seasons at least). And I think we got to the CL Final that year.

Good grief! Mick, How'd you find that?

Dear Santa,

I'll tell you what I want what I really really want - I want Tottenham Hotspur to win the treble this season. Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League.

Not much to ask I know but would be much appreciated.

All my lunch,

Jah. x

I thought I'd save you the effort Ots... ;-)

I was impressed with Mocker's first post, straight in with a big-up for the Hamlet way before it was Hip(ster) to do so...

Over the page - because I have just watched Euro 1996 and Jahs OP about McLaren perhaps puts 2016 in perspective

New Celtic signing Moussa Dembele tells it how it is.... :)

Ironically, Dembele could have been hearing the Champions League anthem at White Hart Lane. Tottenham Hotspur wanted the striker last January. ?It was between the clubs to get an agreement and they didn?t,? said Dembele. ?At the time, it was disappointing, now, I have to say ?thanks? because this is a better opportunity for me. First, Celtic is a bigger club in Europe than Tottenham.

?I know I could earn more somewhere else, but I wouldn?t have the opportunity to play. A club like Celtic does not come along often in your life.?

I don't think that's such a bad thing. He knows the job and if it wasn't for Beckham getting sent off in '98 we could have quite possibly gone a lot further in that competition. I know he wasn't known for his man management skills but I'd hope that he has learnt from that. Glenn's a very talented coach and the players will have respect for him. I'd have liked to have seen Southgate given the job but he doesn't want it.

And that's it in a nutshell. He'd only be a bit part player at Spurs.

Sam's the Man.........has a ring about it. On the change in fortunes with the rugby team that MM referred to, a lot has got to be down to Eddie Jones not taking any s**t. You're either on form for your club or you're not selected. I wish the same approach was applied to football where it just seems that the manager is 'friends' with the players and shows them 'loyalty'. Well eff that. You want to play for your country then earn it. There shouldn't be any brownie points earned to be used when you are semi recovered from an injury or a bit off form. England needs someone with a mouth to manage the team. Maybe even Sam.

Yep, that was my line of thinking

    • By now you’ve hopefully seen that our main demonstration against Trump’s state visit is in London on Wednesday. Many of you have also asked, though, about how you can help ‘welcome’ Donald Trump to Windsor when he arrives there tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. So here’s the plan: We’re asking you to come and line Windsor High Street tomorrow in a peaceful, static protest.  Time: 6pm, Tue 16 Sept Location: Assemble outside Windsor Parish Church, High St, Windsor SL4 1LS and then spread out along the High Street. Grab some cardboard and a pen and make a homemade sign to show Donald Trump and his supporters what you think of them!  The world’s media will be in Windsor to cover the state visit, so showing visually that he is not welcome will send an important message far and wide. If you are coming then please join this Signal chat group for important updates.     Protest safety Please buddy up and come with someone else You have a right to peacefully demonstrate, but we are expecting a high police presence. Remain non-violent and non-confrontational, and do not talk to the police. It may be better to dress inconspicuously, not like an ‘activist’ We plan on ending at 7.30pm. Please leave in groups of 5–10 and make sure you have a bust card This action is entirely legal but we still recommend that you read this key advice when going on a protest to know your rights. Remember:  No comment No personal details Ask ‘under what power?’ No duty solicitor Don’t accept a caution Here is the protest support line: 07946 541 511 and here is more information on Stop & Search under the Public Order Act.   Thank you for being part of the movement against Trump. In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
    • We booked a day when we could drop around 8 bags. They directed us to use the rear entrance on Carver Rd. I would definitely ring as they don’t seem to have much space at the back. Our experience was great, they were very polite and thankful.
