For those that missed it, England's under-20 side are into the final of the World Cup in South Korea on Sunday. First time any England men's team has made a world final since 1966.

Since there's a lot of rubbish news around at the moment I thought it was worth highlighting, and hopefully good news for the senior side in a few years (assuming any of them can get a game in the EPL!).

Lost in the brouhaha of last Friday's election results, the transfer window officially opened. So football comrades (and Quids), what positions/players do you think your club needs to buy in/get rid of etc?

For MUFC I would like to see a decent centre half (looks like we're signing Lindelof from Benfica, no idea if he's any good or not), a long term replacement for Carrick (Tony Kroos would be nice Santa), and a couple of strikers who know where the back of net is. Would like Kane but that ain't going to happen, Morata from Madrid looking a done deal but not sure he a 20-25 goal a season striker. Wouldn't mind seeing Chicarito return...

I like the look of the some the young Ajax players that did so well in Europe last season. Klaasen would be a steal in midfield. I'd certainly like a little more creativity in midfield to challenge Ericksen and another centre-forward though Dembele from Celtic would be nice I reckon he's headed elsewhere. I also think Spurs need that one player that's been there and done it in Europe with that extra bit of experience that we need. Not sure who yet, someone that all the players would be able to look up to and be inspired by... so not John Terry then. ;-)
Oops! I completely forget...Demarai Gray. I'd really like to see him at Spurs next season. Definitely fits the profile for our club. A talented young English player. Skilful and with bags of pace, and pace is a little something we're missing at the moment in our side. Probably cost a lot more than he would have at the beginning of last season but a terrific young talent in the making and improving all the time. Scored a terrific goal tonight for the Under-21s.

A lot of talk pre-Under-21 tournament about how England players such as Kane, Alli and Rashford should drop down and play in order to get experience of tournaments and hopefully gain a much needed winning mentality. Meanwhile, Germany sends their under-20 squad to the tournament and wins it, whilst their Under-21's win the Confederation Cup, whilst their first-team squad suns it up on the beaches. Deutschland ?ber alles...

Yes - that's funny RD - liked Gary Linekar's tweet too.

And more importantly : Celtic push for a review of the competitive/sporting advantage achieved by Rangers through their tax dodging

?We note today?s decision by the Supreme Court. Celtic?s position on this issue has been consistent - that this has always been a matter for the courts of law and also the Scottish football authorities, whose rules are intended to uphold sporting integrity.

?In 2013, we expressed surprise - shared by many observers and supporters of the game - over the findings of the SPL Commission that no competitive or sporting advantage had resulted. Today?s decision only re-affirms that view.

?We are sure now that the footballing authorities in Scotland will wish to review this matter. Celtic awaits the outcome of their review.?

    • It is not Labour Party members who elect Labour governments, as it certainly isn't Conservative Party members who elect Conservative ones. It is all those who are not party members who actually make up the sufficient numbers to elect governments.
    • Thanks for these responses. Yes, Cllr Browning & Cllr Hartley did a door-knocking exercise a couple of months ago. It was Maggie Browning who knocked and I told her that I'd had radio silence from Jon Hartley. She looked embarrassed but not surprised. I have spoken to him since, only after writting to Ellie Reeves, our MP about it his lack of response. He agreed to address the issue I asked about but I've not heard from him since. It's really not acceptable for an elected Councillor to consistently ignore his ward constituents. Since it's clearly not a one-off, I'm gonna pick this up formally. I'll let you know how I get on...
    • If memory serves, Labour under Corbyn got more electoral  votes than Labour under Starmer. So I'm not sure how you can call that being "unelectable"? Under a different and fairer electoral system Labour would have won. I see moves are afoot to bring in such a different, fairer system, presumably in the hopes of stopping Reform winning next time. BTW there was a mass exodus from Labour  by  the local (East Dulwich) Labour party members when Corbyn was kicked out by Starmer. It isn't just Islington who doesn't want to support  a right or centre right Labour party.
    • Is this the new shop next to Dulwich Tandoori? is it actually open and if so has anyone tried them.
