I have to say I thought he'd be gone. It looks like Sullivan/Gold are spineless (irrespective of cost to get rid of him).

"West Ham manager Sam Allardyce retains the backing of the club's owners despite the humiliating League Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester City.


BBC Sport has learned that David Gold and David Sullivan were not swayed by the result at the Etihad, despite large sections of the travelling support appearing to turn on the manager.


West Ham continue to work hard in the transfer market and are hopeful of adding two or three new players in the coming days.


The first arrival could yet be Monaco striker Lacina Traore, who could arrive on loan if he is granted a work permit at a hearing next Monday."



It's strange, I generally want clubs to give managers time, and stick with them rather than sacking them after a few bad results, but in this case, he just looks so out of touch with reality.

Part of the reality is that WHU have suffered big time with injuries, in particular the centre half dept (I can think of 3) IMO it's the most important position on the park, even City have struggled when Kompany has been out. Maybe the Board think these are mitigating circumstances to at least wait until some of the injured players come back and see if that makes a difference...

You're right RD but the problems started a long long time before the injuries - right about when Downing was signed and no striker was.


I feel too that Cardiff is last chance but worry that - by law of averages or Cardiff having a bad day - a win will prolong the agony - and yet I want a win - and yet that'll keep him at the club - but I want a win - it's a footy catch 22.


I accept a new man may not keep us up but at least the rebuild could start earlier.

Really? Pardew's record is only 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses, even Moyes' record is slightly better with 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses.

Semantics really, as Pellegrini should get it with 6 wins and a draw. I'd give special mention to Pullis, 3 wins out of 6 for the then bottom club is good going...

It's a disaster. And for this government, who were happy to tell us they had 14 years to prepare to lead, it has been one self-inflicted disaster after another since they took over. To be honest the signs were there when they were in opposition but I think we all gave them the benefit of the doubt as they weren't the Tories and now they have the reigns the additional scrutiny that brings is tripping them up.

      I don't think I've ever seen it used other than for gluing advertising on it. It's definitely not a priority but these things typically get ignored and become part of the furniture (so to speak).  There is a beautiful old red box near Upland Rd. I miss old red boxes... 😞 Anyway I'll have a dig around and see if anything can be done.

      £30-40 for M&S Christmas food for two seems very low! And only £60 for food and drink for 8-10 people?  We have had M&S food at Christmas in the past, and it came to a lot more than that. I suppose it depends exactly what you are buying. We left it late to book a Christmas Day meal out last year, so there weren't many options left.  The Cherry Tree menu looked very nice. That was our first mistake. We also overlooked the fact that it was a Young's pub, with all that implies about the food. That was our second mistake. We don't have shedloads of money. We  took the view that we deserved a nice meal  out after working bloody hard all year. So it was doubly disappointing to basically waste a lot of money which could have been very much better  spent elsewhere.

      No sweetheart. It is a fantastic sermon which should be shared. It is a rights-based sermon which received a standing ovation - if you can be bothered to get to the end.
