"sorry D_C, another pedants myth.

disinterested can also mean uninterested as well as neutral"

Not so sure it's a myth - rather that usage encompasses both meanings. Uninterested is more precise because it doesn't have the alternative meaning.

Re England football, we have some decent young players but the closing of the skills gap between us and other countries just makes our tactical ineptitude more glaring.

So what do you think about our new(ish) manager?

Good? Bad? Indifferent?

End of last season I wanted him gone because he didn't have the team on-side. Now I think he has.

Only asking because the upper classes aren't playing this week so am able to get a word in :)

You were being a bit hasty in your judgement of Holloway AQm, he needed the summer and pre seasonn to get the team 'onside', ship out the players he didn't rate and bring in new faces. If he can get a much smaller club like Blackpool into the PL, who knows...

Maybe people didn't bother to reply because of the not so subtle passive aggressive nature of this. So if Millwall got themselves promoted, would that mean they were suddenly upper class? Or just that they're not shit anymore?

A passive aggressive post with a smiley face? What are you on about? I was making a light hearted comment implying that I don't have many opportunities to get a word in because this thread is supposed to be about the premier league.

Both!

I like to think I'm quite interested in the other divisions. In the case of Millwall, I always liked Holloway and wondered why he bailed out at Palace. Some of his interesting quotes......

    • I was referring more to his performance at PMQs yesterday. It was quite a riot! Almost topped Mastermind
    • Agreed, he should not be held accountable over the mess up over release of prisoners. On the other hand he did himself no favours with his gaffes on the BBC Master Mind programme where he passed on five questions. Where he did answer, here are some of his responses.... When asked who succeeded Henry VIII, Lammy incorrectly answered “Henry VII,” When asked which French scientist won Nobel prizes for both physics and chemistry?” Lammy responded with “Antoinette” When asked which fortress was built to defend Paris and later used as a prison, he answered “Versailles". When asked which variety of blue English cheese is often taken with port, he answered "Leicester" If nothing else he was entertaining.
    • Why do you think he should be toast? All these problems with the prison service apparently go way back, long before Labour took over.
    • Probably by working as a banker for a decade before being an MP, being married to another high earner, and using some of the accommodation allowance that all out-of-town MPs receive. https://www.theipsa.org.uk/news/why-do-mps-need-an-accommodation-budget Tbh mate if someone in her position couldn't work out a mortgage to buy a house in suburban London, they probably shouldn't be Chancellor in the first place...
