It's all about 4th place for you guys and I understand that you want to be in the big league next year.

However the results tonight show the depth of quality teams across Europe.

We had little chance once down to 10 men but enjoyed the experience nonetheless and could have scored early. We likewise might get CL next year but I'm not snobbish about the Europa and I'm sorry we are out of it.

I'm not being snobbish about it. I'd love to win the damned thing but it is probably the most difficult to win. Far too many games and I know we've probably had this conversation before but when you've been in the Europa League several seasons in a row, you'll understand that it starts to become detrimental to your league campaign and it becomes very hard to manage when you are playing every two or three days as has been the case this week. Three games in six days. Also, it's not all about fourth, it's about glory and winning trophies and hopefully winning them with a bit of panache.
I don't think it's snobbish either, clubs/fans don't have an issue with the Europa League in principle, it's more to do with the scheduling of the games. And that's driven by money. This week all the CL games could've been played on Tues night, allowing the EL games to be played on Wed, but that would bring in less TV revenue for UEFA. If Celtic played in a far more competitive league, playing Thursdays would also be a problem for them...

What Jah and RD said.

I'd be very happy to see Liverpool lift the Europa League cup, but the competition is very badly organised, and should be reviewed.

It's not all about 4th at all, I want to finish as high as possible, and I want to see the club win cups. What I don't want it a cup competition that just screws up league pregress.

You'd understand if your team faced any sort of challenge every weekend.

Exactly. You've only got to look at this weekend's fixtures:

Liverpool away in EL, now face a tough home game against City;

Ditto Spurs, cup final against Chelsea;

Everton away to Arsenal;

Celtic, home to the mighty...errrr....Aberdeen

If we defend the way we did against Monaco, the outcome could be embarrassing

Wasn't the latest saviour of English football on hand to save you from elimination last night? "He's one of our own..." Remember when Andros Townsend was going to be the saviour of English football?

Cheap shots.

That's what all the jealous fuckers say. Harry's ours for now and long may that continue. As for Andros. I never said it. The press did. I've been moaning about him for a while now. All those step-overs and no end product.

If you really want to have a go and have a laugh take a look at Soldado's appalling miss from last night. Not only should he have scored himself but the pass to Chadli also misses. Just the most appalling cock-up I've seen in a very long time. The jury's in about Roberto now and he's had so many chances that I've had enough. He really isn't worth the stupid amount of money we paid for him. He's got to go in the summer along with Franco Baldini who spent the money on him.

Lateral linking - I like that.

Was hoping for, but not really expecting Everton and Spurs wins today (and totally sick that Terry got on the score sheet for Chelsea).

Butwho cares about all that, great 3 points for the pool today, have a great player in Coutinho (hopefully we'll hold on to him, for a while anyway) and loving life as a pool supporter right now. Just a shame it took so long for things to click, otherwise who knows...

Still, if we can knock United out of the top 4, that would have to be considered a great season, so here's hoping!

    • But I don't think that was what you meant, was it? But he can hardly be held responsible for what somebody else did! Just discovered I forgot to post the above  last night, and now it's overtaken by long posts.  I don't have sufficient knowledge  to counter some of what has been said above, some of which appears to be opinion rather than facts, so it would be pointless for me to say anything else.
    • I am sure our lovely Evri delivery team, who do a firkin hard job, take the time between drops to read the East Dulwich Forum 🤫
    • For every person like OP that moans their doorbell was rung and there was a knock on the door, there's someone else moaning that they didn't hear the delivery drivers. If you've ever done delivery work you'll know that loads of people's bells don't work. The delivery drivers probably goes to a hundred doors a day: press bell, knock door, drop package, move on. If you don't like delivery drivers, insist on delivery by Royal Mail where the workers have wages and a union - or just stop ordering shit online that's artificially cheap. But most of us (me included) don't want that
    • If someone comes to my house and bangs my door and slams my gate, I'd speak to them about it nicely and ask if they would please not do that. And then subsequently less nicely if they keep doing it, ending in reporting them.  We don't slam doors at home and I don't put up with that either. I can see us moving to a culture where we bribe drivers to be nice by tipping them, but we shouldn't have to. It's not necessary - does not matter if they are on minimum wage or not, or if society means that delivery services are outsourced or whatever reason anyone would like to concoct.
