Yeah but let's not forget Roberto Soldado's 81 in 141 for Valencia before he came to Spurs. It's a whole different ball game in the Premiership as Bobby soon found out. If you can't cut it in the Premier League it can very soon swallow you up and spit you out again.

would the Bundesliga not be a better comparison to the Premiership than La Liga, both in terms of style of play and difficulty in scoring goals ?

Torres was largely a flop at Chelsea, but let's not forget the goals he did.manage tended to be huge goals.

He was of course sh1t hot at ATM and Liverpool - a great shame how his career has declined - but he will still have great memories.

He was already on the slide before he left Liverpool I think. Finished a season early to have knee surgery and not sure he has ever been the same since.

But his scoring record at Liverpool was awesome.

Also, whilst his league form was less than spectacular at Chelsea, he scored 17 European goals in 40 appearances, which ain't bad.

Didn't Spurs do something similar, spent the Bale money before he was sold so they wouldn't be seen as a club with lots of cash to spend?...

Ahem...I guess so.

Anyway, I've checked out a couple of Firmino's videos on You Tube and I have to say he looks impressive. Had me swooning in fact. Might be too late if Stirling has a change of heart now.

Perhaps- but top Bundesliga performers don't necessarily cut it in the Premier League. Sahin and Kagawa looked like world beaters at Dortmund, but failed miserably in the Prem.

Optimistic about Kane this year Jah? Didn't look great in the under 21s - I think it'll be hard for him to repeat last year. I think he's a decent player to be clear but not absolutely convinced last season wasn't a bit of a flash in the pan?

The kid needs a break. He's young and still got an awful lot to learn. I wouldn't say I was optimistic. At Spurs we can't afford to be. All depends on who we get in and out of the squad. We shipped in an awful lot of goals last season so the defence needs sorting out. If we can get a decent spine through side then our chances of winning something will improve vastly but I'm not holding my breath.
