I love it too. Tasty sandwiches too and the rosemary bread is fab. Extremely pleasant staff.

Being something of a muffinista, I have to say, BB's muffins are the best. Even better than Luca's (sorry Luca, I do love your white bloomer though).

and how are their croissants, any good? so many croissants are doughy - tricky to find a good english baker that does them well

Rosie, I tried one today for the first time and while better than many I've had, didn't really have a very croissanty flavour - prob not enough butter!

Amazing....their ham and cheese croissants are to die for. The staff are lovely and i agree, its great having something up the top end instead of having to walk along Lordship Lane the whole time!

On a slight aside (only slightly as I too love the bread, cakes etc from Blackbird) can I also praise the almond croissants from the Peckham Farmers Market stall on a Sunday. Superb.

continuing the slight aside, david, what's the farmer's market like these days. i went a few years ago when i first moved to ED, and it was pretty thin on the ground - 4 maybe 5 stalls tops. i've never been back.

Still the same I'm afraid. I only go now if I've been unable to get down Lordship Lane on a Saturday.

There is a meat stall - excellent quality, perhaps slightly more expensive than William Rose but not much, but only a very limited selection.

A bread and cake stall - great choice and quality, the best stall there.

Two veg stalls - quality varies but decent value and great seasonal selections

One cheese stall - never tried it but looks ok

Such a shame as it's a great spot outside the library but obviously there just isn't the market (no pun intended) for it.

One of the Bread/cake stalls at the Farmers' Market is in fact the Blackbird stall from NCR! I think this market has detriorated a bit over the years...it used to be great to go there for fresh fruit in season - marvellous cheap strawberries in July and even an "Apple Fair" in September. But the fact is places like Pretty Traditional have pretty well cut this off at the knees now. It is okay as a destination walk on a fine Sunday still.

There is one bread and cake stall and the other stall is a cake one. Neither of them are Blackbird.

does anyone no what the chineese shop near blackbird bakery is called i forgot because 2months ago i got a chicken curry from there and the chicken wasnt cooked it was cold and soggy didnt no what to do with it bring it back to them or through it in the bin(td):X
