We have used Rye Cars several times now. They send text message updates (booking confirmed, your car is on its way, approximate fare etc). The cars are clean and roomy, and the drivers friendly and helpful. Rye Cars 020 7732 7000

"Exceptional transportation experiences"?!

"Luxurious transfer"?

Sounds like you would be paying more for the transfer than for the flight 🤣

No, it's perfectly reasonable prices. Don't remember exactly but it was similar to Uber and cheaper than black taxi.

When was the last time you used them?   I called them and they have a minimum charge now.  It’s clear they prefer airport runs only.   Thanks to those who recommended Rye Cars.

Yup I've used these guys for 7 years or so for work, probably over 50 times at all times of day and night and they've never yet let me down.

For small businesses the merchant fees charged by the payment processing companies can eat into their margins quite significantly which is why many of them prefer cash. The strange thing is that on their webpage (https://www.ryecars.com/contact-us) it shows they accept cards - maybe it has to be over the phone or in the office with a card machine but the drivers cannot take payment.

    • Thanks very much for that.   I think the better informed we are, the better our discussions will be. The article contained: "That arrest had quite an impact on the [phone theft] numbers for the following month,” said Green.  Here's another indicator, admittedly a piece of police PR,  of how well-targeted police efforts, mostly invisible to us,  can when successful  seriously affect offending figures: https://news.met.police.uk/news/met-police-drive-down-theft-and-robbery-by-84-percent-in-battersea-and-nine-elms-500495.
    • Another excellent article from Jim Waterson's London Centric reporting https://www.londoncentric.media/p/kitchen-foil-and-algerian-markets?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email Interesting that there seem to be favoured and repeated routes for phone snatching for particular thieves.  Seems ED might be one of them ☹️
    • Anywhere near the Overground/Windrush due to its excellent transport links.  You will get larger place in SE23 for example that will give you enough spare cash for private school if that's what you really want but states schools generally good, reflecting the demographic  Easy to get to the bustling streets of East Dulwich but in ten years see what happens to Forest Hill centre.  The whole of the area is full of green spaces.
