Is 6.40am too early for Saturday bin collection...?

I don't know if I'm being unreasonable but I'm getting really fed up with Southwark doing the bin collection on our road usually just before 7am on Saturdays. If it was a week day I'd be a little more sympathetic. If it was a private person making that much noise so early they'd probably give them an asbo.

This is one of my pet hates and I sympathise.

Why they can't collect during 9 to 5 on any day, thus avoiding waking up people at unreasonable hours as well clogging up the rush hours traffic.

If services are contracted out, it should be written in as a clause.

Just because the bin men want to finish early is a crap excuse.

Saturday morning whinge over, but I will write to the Council about this, because it makes me seethe, well a little.

This was on of the first things I noticed when I moved here 7 years ago and it used to really bug me. These days I quite like it.. start of the weekend and all that

Of course it's not too early. Speaking as a road-sweeper/semi-binman in a former life (and no, not as a student) the concept of 'job and knock' ie you have a set round and then you finish made up for a poorly paid job. I think that's probably not the case since the services have been privatised but surely it's better to have the bin lorries on the street early rather than getting in the way of traffic when we want to be pottering about of a Saturday?

Wish I could bitch that 6.40am was early. mrsw you deserve an asbo for making me so depressed ;-)
