We don't have a house number outside our house at the moment and my husband likes the way some house have it painted/stencilled on in black on the wall near the door of the house. Is there someone local who can do this, or is it something you would do yourself with a stencil?

Thanks so much!

I'd be inclined to use a professional sign writer- mainly because my attempt to stencil (basic) numerals on our bins was a disaster! Quick google search throws up:

There must be lots more around- perhaps you could knock on a house with a painted number and ask who they used.

Hello,

This isn't what you asked for but it could be a much cheaper option....

I bought my house number from ebay a few years ago. It was seriously cheap (about ?10) and although it's about 5 years old now there isn't a mark on it (i.e. not weathered at all) and I still think it looks super-stylish. Also, it stands out so delivery people etc can easily find the house number. I don't have the name of the ebay seller but it is similar to these

When I first bought it I thought "this is too cheap it must be rubbish"; but 5 years on and I'm still happy with it.

If you want to see mine then PM me and I'll send you my address so you can't check it out.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
