I'm FEKKIN lovin watching this "it" show this year

It's great stuff, makes winter way more bearable

Hey on that note: I made blackberry whisky tonight in preparation for 'the big red and white guy down the chimney' day.

(not Eric Pickles btw DC) tho that would be funny

  • 3 weeks later...

It has become crueler, almost a parody of itself

The auditions are almost Karaoke versions of the previous auditions

Eventually it will evolve into a woman with an afro, finger tapping the mic, whilst modulating her range between high and low

And a boy band with guys side stepping in and out of a revolving circle, pumping the words "Wass up, wassup" into a microphone

The judges will feature the Honey Monster and the kids from the Rice Crispy packet, hosted by a Monster Munch & no one will even flinch

Still meanwhile of that, i'm still watching

When does this start?! I can't wait!

Thoughts on this year:

Bringing back 'the room' audition was a good idea. Never liked going straight to the audience of gawping munters and their ludicrous edited-in expressions of UTTER SHOCK - like aliens just landed on the stage and did the hokey-cokey.

My favourite new element is the close-up of 'the finger' sliding the fader up on the mixing desk. Probably attributed to Simon Cowell in the credits - along with everything else.

I think there were actually far fewer cringey comedy entrants this year weren't there? - which I think is down to ITV's heartwarming new policy of excluding the mentally ill from auditions this year.

Not that I'm watching it, of course.

To be fair they're the only two with any modicum of talent, at least as far as tedious karaoke fest competitions go.

I liked Abi too, but there was something horrible about her attempts to appease a format that in no way suited her own talent.

She'll be fine, she won't conquer the world but if she can put out some of her own work with a bit of integrity then I'll look forward to seeing her play at the Union Chapel.

I want to like Rough Copy, but have yet to be particularly impressed by a performance. They seem like good lads though. Sam Bailey is good, but if she wins, she'll never be heard of again. Someone like Hannah may stand a chance of going further if she wins...

They're all a pretty forgettable bunch.

But then I thought that of One Direction, so shows what I know.

Tamera has potential to do well, ie she's young, gullible, malleable, will sign the worst contract Syco offers and is pretty and skinny with a nice bum.

She can even sing, though not convinced that's a prerequisite.

Hannah & Tamera won't win because they don't have enough public support.

I'm still going for Rough Copy to win, Sam Bailey 2nd.

When I said 'fix' I was referring to the bottom two, not the fact that Sam went.

Heaven forbid that Louie goes into the final 4 weeks with all of his acts remaining. So conveniently 2 of his boys were in the sing-off.

Tamera was in the bottom two a few weeks ago. On Saturday her performance was so weak, plus she forgot her lyrics.

Definitely bottom two contender again. Miraculously she escaped.

Simon C has said on numerous occasions that she has the most potential & is the only one of the finalists with a future. As soon as she is voted off, he will sign her up anyway but obviously wants to keep her in as long as possible.

Enough said really.

I dunno, call me naive, but I'd have thought it would be difficult for them to fix the votes after controversy about phone polls a few years ago.

I don't think there are any fixes in x factor.

The fact Tamara forgot her words probably gained her votes. I think before, she was coming across a bit over confident, that nade her more human.

    • I remember seeing something a few years ago on TV about a fox that was actually biting through people's shopping / takeaway food bags.  It was situated in an alleyway.  Not in London.  Very interesting in how the  urban foxes brain development has  been affected by their surroundings.   Not an exact quote from Darwin.  It's the adaptable that survive / not the strongest or the most intelligent.   I would be worried if a fox came close me.   Because they might be after my fur babies and they carry a lot of nasties.   Although they look beautiful from a distance or on a 🎄 card.
    • Driving down Lordship lane around 2.45pm today saw a v sick looking fox walking in and out of the crowd.
    • I know I'm a bit premature but don't want to forget through too much Chrisntas cheer! Southwark Council Christmas trees recycling arrangements 2025 - bit worrying for the future that they're emphasising the free bit. "We’ll collect and recycle your real Christmas tree for free!  Trees should not be taller than 5ft. You should chop any taller trees into smaller pieces. Remove all decorations and the pot or stand and recycle it by: putting your tree with your garden waste containers on collection day requesting a free collection if you do not have a garden waste collection  taking it to our Reuse and Recycling Centre [43 Devon Street, SE15 1AL open 08:30-16:30 Mon-Sun] If you live in a flat you must leave the tree: outside on the kerb visible for the collection crew not in a bin store" I'll add the link to the collection booking service when it opens on 22 December.
    • Most homes in East Dulwich / Good Green ward have collections on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. So no changes for them this year.  But for those few local homes with collections normally on Thursdays or Friday, with Christmas, Boxing day happening on Thursday and Friday any blue, brown or green bin collections will be delayed by two days. So Thursday 25 December collections will be on Saturday 27 December and Friday 26 December collections on Sunday 28 December. For New Years day those Thursday collections will be on the Friday 2 January and those with normal collections of Fridays that will be on Saturday 3 January. To double check when your Southwark Council rubbish, recycling, food waste, garden waste collections will be taking place please please check here - https://services.southwark.gov.uk/bins/lookup
