Agree about the scary face. My sister told me that teachers learn it in their first year after qualifying; essential for classroom control. Particularly effective if you've just had your eyebrows tinted.

True that getting older helps; gives you control over whether you think of men in sexual terms or not. The guy who owns the house I live in likes to walk around wearing just a towel, very occasionally nothing, and leaves the bathroom door open when he's in the bath, particularly when his other half isn't around. He doesn't say anything but makes eye contact. Bit like having an oversized attention-seeking three-year-old in the house.

Rarely get to have deep discussions with men these days. I think it was a character in a Carol Shields novel who said, "When did you last have a conversation with a guy he didn't try to win?" Kind of rang a bell with me.

It's not just about being chatted up. Like Asset, I seem to have some sort of homing beacon for nutters - be they male or female.

It happened at lunchtime - I was queuing in the Post Office and this old man just came and stood next to me. I was stood at the counter getting my car tax disc, and he just stood right beside me sucking his teeth. I didn't even make eye contact this time. Might have to start staying in. ::o

    • Just because the security did not chase the shoplifter does not mean no action was taken. Security camera footage can be sent to the police and used in evidence and actually is an effective means of prosecution.  Staff should not put themselves in a potentially dangerous position - stock is insured and can be replaced.  I remember a member of Coop staff chasing a thief and getting hurt
    • Maybe I’ve got this wrong but didn’t the metropolitan police have a £200 minimum for investigating shoplifting  because of their other priorities.
    • Absolutely don't post on the forum. By all means provide evidence to the police or shop security.
    • Did you think about taking a photo on your phone and giving it to Co-op management ? Better still post here on the forum. If we see it an do nothing then the problem will only get worse and prices will hve to rise to cover the cost of this crime.
