Reliable, efficient and competitively priced builder

Hi ED forum members,

After buying a new house, my fiance and I recently had the nerve-wracking search to find a builder who could help us to complete lots of critical work. We needed various pieces work doing, including a new hot water system, walls knocked through, walls built, electricals tested and new lighting, new radiators and more... we knew we needed someone we could trust.

Luckily through a contact of my mum's, we found Taner. Taner was flexible and really understood how important it was to get the work done speedily (we couldn't move in until it was completed). He had a team of people who supported him, including plumbers and electricians. This meant they could work together to get the job done and the work was complete within a fortnight. The work was fairly priced and Taner was really flexible, popping round or staying behind to go through things with us (as we both work full time). Importantly for us, Taner was really friendly and has an easy manner.

I would like to strongly recommend the work of Taner Kanat http://www.kanatbuildingservices.co.uk

Kind regards

Lily

Taner of Kanat Building Services just replaced our fencing and did a fantastic job. Tidy, polite and very professional. There was a problem with our neighbours fence that created a gap and Taner came back two weeks later and free of charge filled it in. Quality service and very competitive price. Would use again.

Another thumbs up for Taner from us. We have just had some plastering and rendering done by him and we're really happy with the quality of the finish. He did a slightly larger area than we expected, and worked around an awkward chimney breast leaving a much better line than we had before.

We'll be using him again.

Hi, we'd like to add another recommendation for Taner. He put up some trellis, fencing and took down an outside wall for us. He was really polite and friendly, reasonably priced and obviously took pride in his work.

Will definitely use him again.

    • Yes, even  just the thread title will stick in people's minds, with the specific cafe mentioned. And they will see it every time they look at the list of threads in this section of the forum. It might be a good idea to change it to remove the cafe name and say something like "a local cafe"?
    • Our son really doesn't interact with others much and very rarely gets out, but when he does, an ice cream at the cafe is a favourite treat (even when it's freezing outside). Like yours, it's a single-person data point - in our case, no illness. Bugs can come from anything/anyone - other people are far more likely to be the unwitting carriers, in my view. Having gone there for years and years, never had a concern re the ice cream. And generally do worry about linking an establishment with illness/standards, even as a question as, even subconsciously, the association may stick in people's minds (and if they stop the ice cream, we'll be devastated!).
    • However, it is worth noting that an area which is selling food outside (and to children) is quite likely to attract customers who are Noro-virus carriers and may contaminate things. Norovirus is very catching. One of the positive results from Lockdown and the emphasis on hand washing was a significant decrease in seasonal afflictions such as Norovirus. So this may have been associated with the ice cream purchase and consumption but not consequential on specific hygiene failures by its purveyor. Considering just how catching Norovirus is, if it is that you will need to exercise considerable care at home to avoid it spreading round your family.
    • Places selling ice cream have to conform to really strict hygiene regulations. It's highly unlikely that a place like the cafe on Peckham Rye would risk their customer's health, or their reputation, by not adhering to them. As said above, there are lots of things going around at the moment.
