Childminders and mummies

Apologies if there is already a thread on this but what are rates and what is included for that rate. Are CMs paid hourly or per day!?

Just trying to plan for return to work next year...

CMs are self employed so will vary in their rates, what is included (ie food, nappies, wipes etc), hours and days worked, whether holidays are paid, how many weeks holiday they take etc.

They may have a daily rate as well as an hourly rate.

The best thing is probably to register on childcare.co.uk, search for childminders in your area and send out a lot of emails! Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure but it'll give you a good idea of what it might cost..

Childminders charge on average between ?40 -?50 per day and ?6 to ?10 per hour, it really depends on the individual minder what is included in the fee. Hope that helps.

I have to pay their tax on top of that or they sort themselves?

They sort their own tax.

We paid ?5/hr a couple of years ago.

You could phone up the Council for their list of Ofsted-registered childminders - this has details for all as well as prices.

Any childminders charge alot more than this in the area. We pay ?65/day

if you look around you will find varying prices. We pay ?45 day or ?7.50 an hour.
