Every day at 12 oclock I take out the food to put on the bird feeder. The pigeons, always being very punctual, form a very orderly queue in true British style on the roof of my shed and take it in turns to partake of the feast. (Other birds do get a look in eventually) . However, today, not one single bird has come anywhere near. The sky is silent. What do they know that I don't. Any ideas?

You are welcome to mine!  Tthey are pests (assuming you are talking about feral pigeons).  We have occasionally wood pigeons, but once the feral ones arrived the wood pigeons disappeared.

I feed tits, finches, robins, great spotted woodpecker and other birds from time to time when they appear.  I used squirel proof feeders.

Any cats about?

Well, they're back today. Something must have spooked them yesterday. And yes, like Angelina, my pigeons are also well turned out. They all wear the same uniform. I think they may be stock doves. As well as Mr and Mrs Woodpigeon I also get the collared doves.

I really like the proper wood pigeons that visit our garden every day - plump and healthy with attractive foliage. But i dislike the flocks of feral pigeons that hang around St Francis Park on DKH.

They are fed bread scraps by some well-intended lady but the result is hundreds of them perch on the benches  and crap there so that no one can ever sit on them.

This lady really should desist and think more about the amenity for the local residents.

Some may be wood pigeons. They are larger and grey and COO which common pigeons do not. Other pigeons may have mated with gulls and  get different and more colourful bodies. There are always loads of pigeons in Peckham Rye Park by the lake, and masses in the park by Dog Kennel Hill sainsburies

I'm still unclear, are we talking about wood pigeons or the descended rock doves (the Trafalgar Square pigeons). I hear wood pigeons a lot and one pair has nested in my garden this year, but I rarely see rock doves at all, and haven't for many years.

    • Have been to both pubs in the evenings - whilst fine if there is only a couple of you but  quickly gets full up and noisy. It will be a Friday evening - the only time everyone can make it due to work commitments.  We went to Maria's Tortillas next to the Picture House last time and the food there was great for everyone, although we did not have the 10 and 12 year olds with us that time. I am hoping that the Persian restaurant  opposite Grove Tavern will be opening in the next 3 weeks as this would be ideal.  I tend to stick to fish, chicken and veggie meals.
    • Yes, but only until around 8pm from what i can tell!
    • I like the use of the world real estate, something we don't tend to use this side of the pond unless we are talking large pieces of land.  I understand that real estate does cover individual properties. Perhaps estate agents used to be known as real estate agents.  Let's ask AI Ah, it started when they were involved in selling the estates of the landed gentry, and then moved into the mass property market.
    • The craziest thing is there’s only one session in the morning on weekends now so it’s always MENTAL
