Ear piercing for 10 year old

My daughter wants to get her ears pierced and I am looking for recent recommendations from experiences locally.  I have heard that Polished use a needle rather than a gun which seems to be the general advice nowadays, but I remember my own experience at a similar age with a piercing gun being quick, easy and problem free.  I'm looking for somewhere that will have the skills to put my child at ease and provide a professional service with proper aftercare advice.  Many thanks

I would not recommend Polished to anybody. They sent my daughter away without any aftercare instructions or solution, when i popped in to enquire they couldn’t say anything except that we could purchase an inferior cleaning product from them at double the price. My daughter went back again some time afterwards to get a row of piercings done on her ear, this time they not only did a bad job on the spacing but put in a stud that was the wrong size, the head of the stud was so tiny it got swallowed up inside her ear and she had to go to A &E to get it removed 🙁

I would'nt go locally I'd go to Maria Tash in Liberty..it'll be more expensive but they will do a good job and its their buisness not a 'sideline' to other beauty offerings.

I have no experience of piercing at Polished but I went in to enquire about a manicure and I found the staff attitude pretty rude, looking me up and down when I walked in and just giving off a bad attitude like they just could'nt be bothered maybe because I'm not a glam 30 something? I dont know.

Gosh, surely your daughter of mothers can recommend  - do you really need to post on forum? Or maybe you home school whatever..

still recovering from shock, posted along the lines of, advice needed about adopting/ buying a dog….

Guess I am now at a age, where I should just keep quiet and pass no comment and read  postings like a “soap” - cheaper than tv licence…

I would also not recommend Polish -had a bad experience with a piercing - poor position, wrong size stud and zero instructions for aftercare. 

After on the staff attitude, getting looked up and down.

After the piercing healed, I went to Superdrug,they were brilliant.

Definitely avoid polished ,

my daughter ended up with uneven piercings and her earring was pierced too tightly in one ear and got very sore  . Very poor attitude from staff member and no after care , no response from them to say the piercings were uneven .  
Had them redone on kings road wity astrid and miyu and had a fantastic experience, so professional

We got our daughter's done at Superdrug. They have a designated, trained member of the team so it's not just a random shop assistant who does it.  It was fine, there's not much to say other than the piercings are in the right place and there's been no problems afterwards

You do know that this post is the reason that forums exist? So that people can ask for help, advice etc. 

I'm not sure what "...daughter of mothers"  means but if you mean friends, not everyone has friends, or is confident enough to ask other mums at the school.

Oh and it's nothing to do with your age -  be kind, be helpful or if you can't, leave it to someone who can.

beansprout, finding someone good to pierce your daughter's ears is not trivial.

Your personal experience of the forum is irrelevant.

We made a day of it and went to John Lewis on Oxford street Tish Lyon in July this year. They use a needle and my daughter is super squeamish but they were great and she was brave they were really nice and the selection of earrings is lovely.   Monica vinadar also do a special kids experience they have a branch in canary wharf or flagship in chelsea.  You do have to buy a pair of earrings from them in both cases. It's about 20quid for up to three piercings and then u basically pay for the earrings of choice. All very unlike my own experience of taking myself to a hair dresser in Hull to annoy my mum and getting it done with probably a rank gun. I survived...less lovely though. 

I did also recently get my own ears re- done at Polished. It was fine but did feel like blunt fork going through my ear and I did come away with a shirt collar covered in blood.  I survived and wasn't that bad... but again...slightly less lovely.

A friend went to Pro beauty next to clippers in Dulwich. Her daughter was very nervous so they used numbing cream for her (don't think they normally recommend it as such) but that seems to have been a good experience as well . 

 

Tish lyon will do from age 7, monica vinader you have to be actually exactly 10. We wanted to go a week before 10th bday and MV wouldn't do it until the day of 10th bday.
