Thanks everyone. You kind thoughts and comments are really appreciated.

People at Kings were fab.

Lady who helped picked me up and all stuff billowing everywhere was especially fab.

Right ankle 5 or 6 double stiches (I was too wimpy to watch) are killing me despite the nurofen. I hadnt appreciated how painful it would be until the adrenalin reduced and local anesthetic subsided. Apparently I was very lucky with tendons and artery.

Hobbling to work I REALLY have a sense for how useful dropped kerbs and accessible public transport are.

So you'll all be glad to hear I wont be knocking on your door for a week or so. But I will be phoning people to see what's bothering them.

Paracetamol is good and you can take in between doses of ibruprofen .

Don't only take pain killers when you can't bear it any longer ,take them regularly .

If it's really bad and stopping you sleeping ,phone your GP for and discuss stronger pain killers .

And take prunes with them if something stronger prescribed as so many are very constipating .

Edit - gosh I sound bossy and a right know it all .Sorry ,but it's horrid to be in pain and so many of us soldier on when sometimes I think it could be fairly easily better controlled .

wishing you pain free soon .

Those are the ones they only allow you to use for 3 days :)

King's gave me Tramadol to take home after an Op - was very good.

xxxxxxx

You can buy paracetamol and codeine over the counter at any pharmacy, so I doubt there's a three day limit on taking it (though from memory there's a warning on the packet that codeine can be addictive).

There is a stronger version which you can only get on prescription.

    • Another TSG van on blues and twos just shot down Underhill, passing my house at 15:30 hrs. Which suggests this residential street is now an accepted emergency route to the South Circular. Which it never used to be. And which I'm guessing reflects a change in road usage which is likely to have been influenced by other recent road changes locally. But I'm sure life is much quieter now in other roads, so lucky them. But their quietness shouldn't be seen, in my view, as being a universal benefit to the area.
    • As it's Halloween tonight, are we out witch hunting and burning ? 🤣
    • I hate to be that guy but i don't think you'll get much joy calling 999 if your phone has been stolen.
    • Unless you are watching it 24x7 then its hard to qualify that its not being used. Unless you are a business overlooking it of course. Personally I am reassured we still have phone boxes as they provide a valuable emergency use. If you are mugged for you phone, you can call 999 from them, if your house or business is on fire and you run out without a phone you can dial 999 from them. Some people don't have a mobile so its potentially reassuring for them knowing they can call someone if they feel unwell whilst out.  Just because some people don't see value in an object, doesn't mean others don't.
